Hi guys

I'm searching for any sort of plug-in that will display chords as I play them from my midi controller. I used to own a Tyros, which conveniently displayed the chords as you played, and although I'm not a "classical" player, I found knowing the chords I was playing helped my composition skills and overall music theory.

So, what I'm asking is if there is any VST that simply displays the notes/chords as you play?

Cheers :)

Not a plugin, and doesn't do it while you play (have to enter the notes by mouse) but nevertheless a good find (in German) :

I use this about ten times a day. Prefer it to the link above because you click on a graphical keyboard: http://www.gootar.com/piano/index.html (http://www.gootar.com/piano/index.html)

Oh yeah, that's my first post ever here. I only posted cos I like that chord finder so much... so you can't click on it -- copy & paste.

there is a mfx plug like you speak of in Sonar

This shows the chord(s), scale(s) and a bunch of other functions.

Too bad it's not available.

Logic Pro 8 does this automatically. It shows you the notes/chords are cuurently played.

Both cases: You play realtime..or a midi plays back..

PS: I'm actually searching for same kind of VST..Want to add the functionality to my Live 7

Really surprised this is not available as a vst, Cubase used to have this function, now its crippled

If someones out there reading this that wants a simple freeware VST project you should go make it, seems like this wouldnt be an overly complicated peice of software to program, i mean compared to other VST's, and as we can see from these posts, the demand is there... well some demand anyway, I'd certainly download it.

Id also be interested in such a plugin for ableton. Im guessing there is one out there somewhere.

bump, i'm surprised this isn't a common display option in all daws, like logic has had forever now!!! :help:

Maybe you like toon track ezkeys. You can compose with it and then drag the midi to another vst. So you can not only play piano with it but also your synths.
Finally!

I have written a plugin to do this but not put it up yet as I was working on my DC entry. It just needs a bit of polish and I will upload it. I did a .NET standalone version as well and posted it a while back but nobody was interested, I think the .net aspect puts people off. Anyway the plugin itself is a native C++ port. Just give me a bit and I will get it up.
