I take back my comments earlier about Etch.
It still has a place alongside The Drop on my setup.
Just does some things a bit better

The LP & HP modelling (as evidenced so far) is far superior in 'The Drop' but the modulation options on Etch are great plus Etch has that wonderful Comb filter model which when combined with the powerful mod options is psychedelic heaven!VariKusBrainZ wrote:I take back my comments earlier about Etch.

Perfect bedfellows I reckon.

Totally agree but I believe Andy is commited to releasing products we can all afford, not just Richard Devine and BTsonicpowa wrote:But this is the wrong bargainVariKusBrainZ wrote:We're so used to overpriced shit that when we're faced with a bargain we just cant beleive its true.it's seriously good shit.. oh, but I can buy it twice..

I also think the pricing is fair....I just remembered when I and other kvr lurkers contributed towards the public beta of Diva for uhe. they offered an introductory price for everyone that contributed and who was following the development early enough (wether you own any uhe products or not). I suppose it was just nice for those people who had taken an interest to be offered an incentive to buy early. It probably worked well for uhe to get as many people on board at that time, because when a product is good, people will sing its praises and bring in new sales via word of mouth. Just saying, not complaining

Hmm... I've logged in and I'm not seeing the discount. Not even at checkout.andy_cytomic wrote:I've switched to applying the discount to the product instead of the order, so the discount will now appear for existing customers on each product's add to cart button.
EDIT: Oh, wait. There is a discount at checkout. It shows up magically a few seconds after the page seems to have finished loading.
Surely there must be consensus by now...

I look at the other way around, I don't want to push regular customers that would prefer the final version into buying the beta just because they get a slight discount - that doesn't help anyone. What does help for those that are more technically adept is allowing them to buy the product while in beta so they get a jump on everyone else, since they can work around any issues and get on making music immediately._leras wrote:Oh... now that's a real shame.....andy_cytomic wrote:$99 is the final price of The Drop.
Not much point to be an early adopter then other than to help with bug testing?
I will wait to try it when it is more complete.
I also don't like limited time offers or other suck gimmicks to get people to buy. I prefer a sensible, affordable, and steady price point. It doesn't matter if you buy early or buy late, you are an existing customer that buys a second product, or being a new customer that buys two products at once, everyone gets the same price as much as possible.

Good for you Andy. I really like this about the way Cytomic and others (Valhalla) do business. Reasonable prices, no gimmicks, no pressure to buy...andy_cytomic wrote:I look at the other way around, I don't want to push regular customers that would prefer the final version into buying the beta just because they get a slight discount - that doesn't help anyone. I have no fixed time frame for when they will be ready. I do have all the initial versions of all the models ready, but I want to fine tune them against the circuits, and add extra details to the model if needed get them sounding right. This could take a couple of weeks per model or a couple of months or more, it's hard to predict.ddeez wrote:Andy can you say what other filter types will be added and how soon? Am very interested in buying but want to know what other filter types will be added.
EDIT
when i say filter types i mean modeled circuits or filters from diff synths etc
I've updated the web page to indicate the full list of circuits that will be included in the final product: "Currently only the Sallen Key MS2 (based on the Korg MS20 mk2) is ready, other circuit models to be added are Sallen Key MS1 (based on the Korg MS20 mk1), Ladder PR (based on the Moog Prodigy), Cascade SH (based on the Roland SH series synths)"
