I'm testing this right now. Sounds absolutely amazing so I'm definitely buying it as soon as I can! I hope the price isn't too high though because it's still a bit gimmick but very useful one indeed.

I was struggling to get realistic organ sounds but not anymore.

More info would be nice like price and release date.

And I guess there will be an introductory price?

Totally agreed!

Hm, goes to show how different expectations may affect impressions.

I had expected (hoped!) for a Leslie sim that would put shame to the two currently best ones - IK Amplitube 3 and the built-in Leslie in GSI's VB3 (which is my favourite).

My, was I disappointed!

In my world, a Leslie should be able to growl, scream and screech. It should allow me to use the switch between choral and tremolo like a violinist uses vibrato. It should have the character of well-oiled mechanics, a slightly worn drive belt ("ribbon" ?? in LX122), wind noise at tremolo speed, solenoid clicks when shifting speeds and a bit of dirt and rattle thrown in for good measure.

In other words, for me, a Leslie should rock!

The LX122 is politely blah. The presets are probably fine for people looking for a swirling chorus-like effect for ambient music. Even the presets labelled 'rock' are wimpy. Anyone looking to rock a B3 or M100 had better look elsewhere.

I A/B:ed back and forth between my VB3 and the LX122 (I used the VB3 with its Leslie bypassed to feed the LX122). I tweaked, trying to get the LX122 yielding that magical swirl as the horn decelarates faster than the bass baffle.

Then I switched to the VB3 Leslie and felt a smile growing on my face. Of course I was spoilt by my M102 and 142 for many years…

Sorry, Xils. I'm passing over this one.

Oh yeah! I'm a very strong VB3 advocate too. Being a Gospel Hammond player, I love, love, love my VB3. However, being a Gospel player, I don't need as much "grit", and thus I actually like what I've heart of the Xils jobbie. I recently bought the Leslie cab available in Amplitude Custom Shop. I haven't used it yet, but I'm hoping to be able to bypass the NI Vintage Organs leslie sim, and use the Amplitude one instead.

As much as I appreciate VB3, I do really, really like NI Vintage Organs. I got the Vintage Organs as part of Komplete 8, and the current track that I'm working on is the first time I decided to try the Vintage Organs B3. I really like it. I like it a lot. Better than VB3? . . .Ummmm . . not sure yet. They are both really good.

I'm jamming with a Hammond XK3-c most nearly every Sunday so I'm blessed to really, really know the Hammond "vibe" quite well. I do like the Xils Lab 122 emu. I do agree with Spitfire31 in that the VB3 Leslie sim is probably the BEST one available in software. Mind you, I haven't had the opportunity to try out the Amplitude cab yet. I'm looking forward to winding that one up . . .

Many thanks for the tip about NI Vintage Organs, Brother Charles! I have to try it out.

In fact, I also quite like the now discontinued '57 Drawbar Organ in NI Kore. Not as tweakable, granted, but a nice, warm tone and surprisingly convincing Leslie for some purposes.

Best,

Joachim

So, is this another when they say "compatible" with x64 meaning it's NOT actually a 64 bit plug?

Intro prices there will be. And very fair

There are two models for the LX122 series, the LX 122 standard and Premium Edition.

The Premium Edition adds advanced features. ( More room/reverb types, more Leslie configurations, the ability to completely build your own Leslie, you can change the angle of both mikes and choose the position of mikes in the room, etc etc )

More audio/video demos will come, and I've been able to rock the LX122 without any particular effort.

In the LX series you can customize the inertia and the decellerando/accelerando times of horns etc, and of course control the unit Live by assigning any midi controlers to the slow/Fast speed toggle.

It goes much beyond your average Leslie simulation, in the Premium Edition you can also for example customise the diameter of the horn. Tremendous effects.

And lastly the history of the rotary speakers cabinets doesnt begin, nor ends, with the 122/147 models : There are a lot of configurations, models, like the C models ( C for Church, where the speed was divided to allow lithurgic music), the 950 series etc etc. The Xils series aim at covering all these models. GTher's so much to say erf.

Ok back to finish the next audio demos, some wiill be surprising :)

Thanks Brother Charles, great to hear about a real B3 player; We had some feedback from some other real B3 players ( there are a lot in France) and they were very encouraging as well.

Its fully native 64 bits, both mac and Win (like all Xils effects or synths )

Very happy with my purchase ;) (Premium).
Nice rich, full sound, and great rotor emulation. Yes, it could venture further into the "rip 'em up" territory, but the Drive is very good, as far as it goes.
I too am a great fan of VB3 (unfortunately, on Mac, the VB3 has no separate Leslie FX plugin), so my only other "free-standing" Leslies are those in Amplitube 3 (great also) and Guitar Rig 5, but I hate having to load such a heavy plugin, just to load a Leslie into it.
(just my opinion, but as regards N.I.'s Vintage Organs, the Leslie is quite a disappointment to me (goes nowhere near fast enough ;) ).. Many years ago, I used to wonder why the Hammonds I used to play in the UK never had quite the energy of those I heard in American recordings, eventually to find that one of the principal reasons was the difference in motor speed because of the UK's 50hz alternating current, vs the USA's 60hz.
I did get a life,once...but it was faulty, so I sent it back.

@vic_france:

Have you compared LX122 with the leslie on amplitube?

Post

Keeps crashing Reaper every time I try to instantiate it. (Premium version. Win XP x86.)

Post

Trying in other hosts, not crashing, but how do I enter demo mode? Serial number dialog won't go away.
