Hey guys,

I'm new to sound synthesis, and trying to learn how to create some of the sounds been used in my favourite tracks. I learned that most popular sounds have their own names (like wobble bass and shepard's tone). One particular sound I've been willing to create is widely used in Deus Ex Human Revolution soundtrack, I've also heared it's variation in TRON: Legacy movie, but don't know it's name (if it has one) - it just may help me to find a tutorial or something.
Also would appreciate any sound names' lists or a book.

the sound starts leading from 0:28

Thanks for looking!

There are at least 3 sounds starting at that point.

Care to narrow it down a bit

Wow, it's pretty hard to explain because english is not my native :)

Well, it's the arpeggio sound, not a pad. You may call it a bleep sound, I guess (though highly tweaked).

Another similiar sound from Daft Punk - needs a little tweak but basically the one I need.

from the very beginning

You can hear it better at the end of the track.

It's a synthesised pluck sound, possible a combination of square and saw wave and it's been run through a low pass filter, distortion and delay.

There's also an envelope on the filter cutoff giving that snappy percussive sound. A little decay and probably some release on that envelope.

Thank you!
Found a sample in this video:

Gonna tweak it my way but surely it's the one I've been looking for. Thanks again, people here are really helpful and tolerant towards newbies :)

This is another useful tutorial on a similar sound. Synth1 is free so you could follow along.

Just leave out the supersaw/detuned aspect of it and it's basically the same technique.
