How's that for an informative non-answer?
Well, it's a partial answer, as I only have Live-7 (full) and a couple of M-Audio Live lite versions I've never loaded, so I didn't know there are no "racks/groups" in lite and intro... so there ya go. :)

Makes sense. (so far)

I just got an Akai MPD32 and a APC40 and a APC20, so was wondering about Max, as I am setting-up a fresh (Win Xp Pro) machine from scratch just for the APC's, which also work with the latest build of Live-7.

So I'll just load the MPD "Live-8 lite" on another dedicated 'drum' machine.

Hmmmmmmmmmm. Well, being that 8 got me 9, I'm waiting for push

Oh but I forgot, at least with the 8 lite-whatever versions you can do the 8.4 beta x64 no problem, so maybe you can do max.

Interesting... I'll see if that option pops-up when I register the Akai Lite. Thanks.

I'm torn with upgrading to Suite-8 (then 9 for free) and just getting Max4Live now, with the regular Live-8.

I do want Max4Live but having it AND 'sampler' (which I already own) come with Live Suite-9 for (currently) $25 more than I'd pay seperately for Live-8 (full) and Max4Live (now), in addition to the upgrade $$$ to Max-6 "fee" that so many are screaming about, if you don't buy into the Live Suite upgrade path, and just want to run Max4Live in Live-9 (regular edition) kinda puts me off getting it seperately.

Thing is, I have ZERO interest in any of the instruments, racks, or the 50Gb's of samples that come with Live Suite.

(twiddles-thumbs) ... (sigh)

See, for me, it was just the opposite. After successfully fiddling with the "lite" version (in x64) I wanted it all! Not really gas, just really wanted the "all in one" aspect. Glad I did. "Session drums" are quite useful, the drum machine stuff is good, there are some dandy loops (and of course in live, you can mash them up good) and "sampler" has been dream. I still haven't tried "looper", but I think once I get there, it will be for real. The only bummer so far (and there is of course a workaround" is collision and tension seem to want to go out of tune :nutter: Analog has been a pleasant surprise and "operator" has been fun too.

Still, I don't know if I know them well enough to claim victory, but some really good stuff for my needs.

Yeah, I don't know what to think there (though allegedly I get all that)

I hope Ableton 9 will get the same love, I've been using and learning live since Live 6 and the workflow and ease of use its better than ever, even people that never worked on a DAW before get it really quick, only people coming from another DAW seem to struggle a bit :P

I'm not struggling at all. It's kinda scary.

Anyways, there are things I'd like to see improved but I'm coping it seems :phew:
