Hey everyone,

we prepared a demo video for "Proximity" to present some cool features and use-cases.

Hope you enjoy and vote: http://www.kvraudio.com/kvr-developer-c ... #dc12-6630! ;)

I wonder how many people will watch the video and think "Ohhhh, NOW I get it!"

Excellent job, gentlemen- I'd say Proximity falls under the "How did I get along without it?" category, for those working with a lot of live-recorded material and under major time pressure.

There's lots to explore, beyond its balance-repair-workhorse abilities.
I've used and enjoyed the TDR compressor, and Limiter No. 6 is a true "I can't believe this is free" wonder- so when I saw you'd combined forces for Proximity, I knew the results would be impressive.

Nice!

My top 3 in the challenge. Very useful piece of software. Thanks!!!

I'd love to see a more "In your face" room/reflection algo in an update after the DC, and maybe a different microphone algo (not dynamic, but condenser).

Else, innovative concept. Also among my top tiers.
It'll definitely come in handy.

Before seeing this video, test-wise, Proximity's last preset (ATD) was the only thing that grabbed my attention. All developers should be REQUIRED to make at least 30 presets and at least one video of their product. Demonstrate, demonstrate, demonstrate. Best way to sell it imho, even if it's for free.

That's a very good idea. Vlad mentioned a similar idea during development, but there was that evil deadline ;)

You can expect several updates and improvements in the future! The first update may appear shortly after the challenge.

@All: Many many thanks for taking the time to test PROXIMITY! This is not exactly the most exciting "Luke I am your father" style of processor, so I'm really happy to see people enjoying the idea. BTW Someone reported a mac issue with logic, we are already working on a fix, sorry for any inconveniences!

Okay, then make that SEVERAL mic algo's:
Dynamic (currently you were inspired by the SM57beta), Condenser (small and large), Electret Condenser, Ribbon. And if you get a hold of it, maybe even Coal type mics (just for fun).

But I think the main differences can be heard with Dynamic/Condenser/Ribbon in terms of proximity.

Another mode I'd like to see would be a setup of the "actualy" mic distance, and then one for the desired distance. Currently this is mixed with the "distance" knob. But it's locked to 35cm (flat response). But there are recording techniques where 35cm is too much, so 2-5cm (vocals, drums, guitar) or 2m (choir, orchestra) might have been used as well.

Else, I guess I won't use this plugin as EQ, or volume poti. But it's definitely great to mess with the mic distance of recorded vocals and instruments. Can be a life-saver even.

Again, thanks for developing.

Thanks so much for the video. I really couldn't get what Proximity was about because sometimes the effect was so subtle. Then I put it on a lead sound and wow. You could actually hear it changing distance on the speakers as I moved the slider.
Another good thing is the tiny CPU use. I have a project with many fx on it including 3 instances of Omnisphere. I put at least 3 instances of Proximity on it and it barely registered a blip of added CPU.

the presets work on audio unit version? No presets on Ableton Live to me.

"Proximity" plugin was updated to version 1.0.1 (both Windows and Mac versions)

- denormalization bugs were fixed to solve occasional high CPU usage problems;
- GUI#2 editable label color was fixed in Mac version.

PS. I want to prepare one more video about this plugin in a few days!

I'll check it! It was OK with AU presets on Reaper.

As soon as I saw this I knew it was probably this years sleeper hit. I was so glad to see the early positive reviews.
A long overdue concept.
Update per Compy's suggestions, profit. :)

And finally this is the last video about Proximity showing how to use it to add depth in electronic music. Neurofunk stem-mix was used as an example track.

Hope you guys enjoy it! (watch in HD for better sound quality)
