I'm just winding you up, don't take that seriously. I've been around synths for decades now and 106's were going for twice as much as 60's for the longest time. It's actually pretty surprising to me to see 60's selling in the $700-800 range, it wasn't long ago that you could get a Jupiter 6 for that amount.

After all it's a matter of taste and looking at your impressive Roland collection I can understand why you like the 106.
Out of your list I really only like the Jupiter 4.
I had most of the classic Rolands and kept the SH-5 , TB 303 and Pro Mars.
Replaced the Jupiter 8 for an OB8 and Memorymoog , Jupiter 4 for a CS50 and recently ditched the Juno 6 for the U-no-LX.
As you can tell I prefer the deep and darker "techno" Rolands as opposed to the "Pop/Bright/HiFi" ones.
There's no right or wrong really when it comes down to vintage Roland

An SH-5! Sweet! I've never even seen one in person.

It's funny, I'm so overloaded with Rolands that I forgot to even mention my 2 x TB-303's.

One of my MKS-80's is actually quite nice, it's early enough to have the CEM chips yet just late enough to have the better software. It's an anomaly. Anyway, aside from that one, I'd trade nearly any of them for an OB8.

I had both at some point. And I did never regret my choice of keeping just one.

So basically you've got "all of them"- except for the only Roland I'd love to have, a 606!

The answer to the OP Is quite simple IMO:

For the Juno 60 emulation you'll not find anything better than U-NO-LX.

For the rest, especially Minimoog, MS-20 and Jupiter sounds Diva is the proper choice.

Besides the fact that Diva could do a Juno emulation too both could not be really compared.

BTW i have used U-NO-LX within Mulab MUX to create layers and add some FX, with adding some macro controls:

You can definitely make Diva sound like U-NO-LX, but the default "Juno" template in Diva isn't perfect. The U-NO synth is laid out and configured exactly like a Juno from the start, making perfect emulations easier. It's also more CPU-friendly allowing you to use more of them in a project. I use both

Still haven't fully decided if it's worth adding U-No-LX if I already have Diva... so I added a poll to the thread. Please vote.

Simple answer: If you want the most authentic Juno-60 emulation, get U-NO-LX. If not you could go with Diva...

BTW TAL had released the Chorus in U-NO-LX as a free FX plugin.

I've been testing U-NO-LX for last 3 days and Diva is my main ITB synth. I've tried to match them as close as posible and you can get very very close but there is still some minute differences that can be important for nitpickers like me. With as-close-as-possible patches, U-NO-LX has a tiny bit more lowmid "meat" and overall definition and Diva more high mid sizzle, and they seem to react differently to envelopes (Divas envelope does "more" to VCF, which is not always good in my book), so for my taste, when they differ TAL has bit of upper hand. BTW, this is with dual VCO with shape set to analog 1. Rest of the shapes or DCO and difference is bigger (Diva has to be at least 1dB louder to match percieved loudness and I still feel that U-NO has a bit more presence).

So I think there is a difference in tone, but I guess 95% of people wouldn't care. Is it worth $40 if you already have Diva? IMHO, when you count in different workflow (U-NO is simply dead easy to program, cant get simpler than that) and lower CPU load it is worth another $40 to add it to Diva.

BTW, I've matched only 3 patches. Right out of the box U-NO feels much more different, so maybe I just haven found areas where they differ more. It's joy to work with and it allways sound just right. In fact, I think it's best ITB tool for SH101-ish basses and leads (not exactly there yet, but we're getting close).
BTW2, I don't have Juno 60 but I do have 106 and neither U-NO nor Diva are exactly like it, close yes. 106 has upper hand in low reso pads, both Diva and U-NO (not to mention other VAs) are a bit too mid heavy for my ears, but I like them quite a bit more with any kind of reso sweep (60, 101 and 106 have same VCF but small difference like gain staging or 2 diodes can make wonders; at high resonance 106 is yuck for my ears and 101 is pure gold).

What I find most interesting is that within it's limits, U-NO is as good if not a bit better as best analog emu out there so kudos to TAL (I will get it but first I'm forcing myself to forgive Arturia that idiocy with envelopes in mono mode and shell out for SEM).

edit: I've just made some test on those patches but with high resonance and in this case there is quite a bit of difference between Diva and U-NO. So yeah, if you love rolandish sound you should buy U-NO even if you have Diva.

Cool thanks. Hope he improves the GUI and doesnt bloat it with extras. Have to keep an eye open for this.
