I actually would like a nylon strung guitar.
They are very unconventional.
Do be sure and let us know how it plays if suits.
I don't know if I have posted this here before,
but after trying some ceramic pickups,
I am sure that piezo is the best way to go for
pitch to MIDI note. So I would like a neat solution,
instead of my Borged Ibanez RG with Roland GK3.
This is what I plan to snaffle->

The lightburst would be my thing.
I think it's quite beautiful,
and the natural flame is just perfect for my taste.
Cheers and contents in the muse
I've got a freeway and a few guitars with GK's in em.
The Freeway really is crap when it comes to harmonics. Other then that it's a great guitar for guitar playing. With the freeway and the Godin ACM SA I experienced note drop off. They just don't sustain for crap. The nylon string is the worse of the two. But both exibit lower output as you move up the neck.

If you want a real solution for midi get a ztar. I threw good money after bad chasing every guitar midi controller that ever showed up and honestly my first ztar with the cheapest piece of crap module blew all of that away in the first two minutes of playing.

The Ztar is an option,
I have really pursued this pitch to MIDI though,
and have 1 trick I've never heard described.
Do you have a breakout box so you can plug the 6
strings into a soundcard individually?
I have some software-and would love a tester.
Definitely ceramic pickups bleed too much,
but the results with piezo are IMO-
very nice.

Do u want to sell the Freeway?

I see Ztar caters well for you,
I love having release with guitar-
just opens up so much new sonic territory(how u spell that nway)

My trick is kinda hard won, dunno if I want to share it,
but anyone who has hex guitar is welcome to test the soft.

So far my money has gone to the GI-20,
it isn't that great, and to an ubertar hex pickup strat.
Both of these aren't satisfying.

There is about 1000 samples delay with my own system- 2SYN
This goes out to 2000 on low E,
but if u strung a guitar with all high e strings,
it's a workaround.

Noted on the Ztar, Kitara looks cool too
I wonder what I want in here
-my site is gone and music a mess

Hope it works out for you. Personally, I'm just glad you can think about such things after all you are going through!!
Thanks hibidy :D

I'm not going out of the house much these days after the broken shoulder and subsequent seizures, so I'm a tad bored and I regret selling my acoustic as it was ideal to just pick up and play without the need to set up amps, etc.

I'm a bit p#ssed off atm as I ordered a new USB audio interface that *should* have been delivered today but hasn't (f#cking Royal Mail) I was hoping to have it installed and set up ready for the new guitars arrival tomorrow.

My wife asked me what I'd like for Christmas, and I was tempted to list a bunch of stuff to upgrade guitar and bass, like pickups, electronics, bridges.

But instead I went for the software. Maybe I'll just get round to doing all the things I said I'd do throughout the year next year.

Stupid question: is it possible to replace the HSS pickguard on a Strat with a 3-single-coil one? :help: :help:

It LOOKS like it'd be fine, but I'm wondering if anyone has any wisdom to share on this point...

No, it's still a great guitar for other things

Re breakout boxes. I've seen all the documentation and I'm still not convinced they offer any thing worthwhile.

Gibson did this thing where they built a guitar with six outs. I forget the name of it. I wasn't impressed.

I remember some guy who did the break out box sent it into his computer for computer based pitch conversion Then rigged them to midi conversion and then sent it out as midi to something else. It was kind of impressive but I'm not going to buy two mac pro's and a break out box to try it myself.

I've found the answer I was looking for I'm very happy with the signal response I'm getting. Though I'd prolly be happier with a nice keyboard workstation then a computer.

You can do it, there's really nothing to be concerned about.

Cool, and thanks! The 'bucker in the bridge position really doesn't do anything for me, and the prewired pickguard I want is three single coils..

Sold some old computer gear, and bought one of these:

http://www.zzounds.com/item--IBAGRG250DXB

Cheap, pretty easy to play, and will become my "project guitar" and general shred axe (the Strat will stay my blues/jazz/ambient guitar, especially once I shove a pickguard of Lace Sensor Hot Golds into it).

Gives me something to do during the cold Winter months - attacking it with a soldering iron! I'm going to swap one at a time, starting with the bridge.

Should keep me out of the strip clubs for a while...  :help:

I'd be a liar if I said first impressions weren't mainly of disappointment, this guitar looks *cheap and plasticky* tbh, and is in need of a setup. This mainly means a fret dress, which I'd normally do myself but these frets are so low profile there's little room for error so I'll ask my tech to have a look.

As it's basically a electric guitar but with bronze wound strings and undersaddle pup, I was hoping for a lower action than you normally get on acoustics, but this has the same sort of string height. Not unplayably high by any means, but higher than I like. I'm not totally convinced by the tuners either, at least for the B string, there's a little too much movement before any *action* happens. Having said that, once tuned it's stayed that way.

The sound isn't bad, being fairly convincing electro-acoustic as claimed, especially with the treble turned up on the tone control and even more so when used with a judicious amount of reverb, in my case vst fx.

Not the worst guitar I've bought from Skylark, but not the best either. The more I use it the better it gets and while I wouldn't say don't buy, people shouldn't expect perfection if they do.

I think thought that you've had pretty good luck with your tech though, so hopefully......

Bummed about the "cheap/plasticy" part though because they pics look good.

If it can be done my tech can do it, I've no worries on that score. It's the finish on the sandalwood veneer more than anything, it looks and feels like cheap furniture, ie plastic imitation wood. It'll also benefit from a new set of strings, these might not have been played but it's a safe bet they've been on some time so will have lost a bit of their *sparkle*.

I'm almost certainly going to get a new set of 'buckers for my much neglected and currently pup-less AcePro Superstrat and my tech can do both guitars together. I just have to decide which pups (most likely Irongears of some description, fabulous vfm) and whether or not to get surrounds for them.
