I just hope Daichi sees those images.

OK, here is my Synth1 wish list...
1) Virus T.I. alike Super/hyper saw. This means :
- you can choose from 1 (no supersaw) to 9 (or whatever is your max) saws/pulsewaves/whateverwaveforms.
- you can choose the amount of detuning (OK, this is already in, but it must stay as a function)
- you can define their relative panning from 0 (all centered) to 127 (max left & right), to be able to edit the stereo image of the super/hypersaw
2) Units.
You should be able to choose whether the values of the different knobs & sliders are displayed as they are nowadays or in legal units (a switch in the OPT window would be great for this). When turned on, this would display the numeric value of the filters cutoff frequency in Hz, the lengths in the ADSR curve in (milli)seconds... This feature could be useful if one wants to copy instrument settings from another machine into synth1.
3) Delay and Attack settings on the LFOs... Like the supersaw issue, it has been mentionned before, but I'm also dreaming of such a feature.
4)

AB-SO-LUTELY !
I'ld also ask for an additionnal 6dB and 18dB slope.
Also several filter characters could be cool. See what the "warm filter" in Sylenth1 one does ? Or what the "Warmth" button on Tal-Bassline does ? Such a feature could be nice to the filters. This could give several sound flavors to one synth, while keeping backwards compatibility (by default, older patches would have this feature turned off or set to 0).
5)
Add an Hi-pass filter to your output, like on the ARP synths that had the traditionnal resonant filter AND an additionnal hi-pass filter.
This would be extremely fine !
Keep up the good work, Toda-san !
Now here comes a list of features WE, the KVRers should provide Ichiro (we can work a little bit too!).
- A great website design to promote synth1 (sorta www.synth1.com) with killer graphics, audio and video demos, a patch arena, a forum... A pro look for a pro sounding synth!
- A great documentation .PDF file that could come with the synth, with clear descriptions of all the features you get in Synth1, like the ones you get when you buy some hardware stuff ! As we are from many countries, there could be translations of that documentation in several languages (I think I could work atleast on the french one).
- A killer default patch set !

yes, i've already requested this.tnkdesbois wrote:OK, here is my Synth1 wish list...

not possible, the filter of synth1 is mono. but you can of course use the unison mode with 2 voices, then spread the unison voices, does quite the same, only that it doubles the voice count synth1 uses per key then.tnkdesbois wrote:>snip< you can define their relative panning from 0 (all centered) to 127 (max left & right), to be able to edit the stereo image of the super/hypersaw
i've requested this, too, but to be useful to full extend, the lfo's have to be polyphonic. currently they're monophonic.tnkdesbois wrote:Delay and Attack settings on the LFOs... Like the supersaw issue, it has been mentionned before, but I'm also dreaming of such a feature.
there is already a 6db one (just like in the arps back then), in the equalizer section. and not only that - it serves as a hipass and a lowpass in one bipolar knob. however, it's monophonic. but that was the case in the arp oddyssey, too.tnkdesbois wrote:5)

If anyone's up for making a full Synth1 GUI mock up illustrating how the most requested features might be implemented, I'll put it up on the front page. It seems the best way of communicating these ideas to Daichi - he very quickly adopted Dragonsagoth's suggestions for the extra patchbank display. (I'd do it myself, in fact, I've already tried, but I'm absolutely hopeless with graphics software.)
On a related note, anyone have any preferences as to how a mod matrix should be set up? Would it simply be a case of expanding the number of slots in the Wheel/MIDI section (as well as increasing the number of sources and destinations)? If so, how many slots? Any other way of doing it - eg a fixed grid with sources on one axis, destinations on the other (doesn't seem so efficient to me)? Or how about having some kind of drop down menu to save screen space?

^That was kind of what I was thinking of when I mentioned the fixed grid idea, but with user definable sources and destinations and an 'amplitude' control. The thing is, when translated to plugin GUI, it really doesn't make for the most efficient use of screen space, not to say that literal translations, such as that in XILS3, can be pretty fiddly to use.

I would say just more slots like the one now and move the mod-matrix to a second screen. Maybe a button 'mod-matrix' at the left of the version number (top right of the screen) to switch to/from the mod-matrix. This would be somewhat similar to how it is done in Oatmeal (although there it is a partial screen).
As for the layout; I think that the Linplug mod-matrix is about as efficient as it can be screen-wise.

Would there be any point in adding more slots in the Wheel/MIDI section and having a separate matrix? Wouldn't they be fulfilling the same function - routing mod sources to destinations - and, if that's the case, why have both?crimsonwarlock wrote:I would say just more slots like the one now and move the mod-matrix to a second screen.

I thought it was already about the one and the same thing. So definitely have just one matrix where the controllers are part of the sources list.hakey wrote:Would there be any point in adding more slots in the Wheel/MIDI section and having a separate matrix? So what I meant: have more slots AND move the whole thing to a second page

Automating arp section and the legato mode and portamento time make
happen strange things in Synth1.
More strange is that when I tried to use an external arpeggiator midi plugin (Xoxos arp4midi), also automation in bypass on/off of this plugin make Synth1 to go crazy.

I have a problem, I have been using the 1.05 version for a large number of years (yes I downloaded this a loooong time ago), but I tried to update it and the presets stored in my songs are not loading in the 1.12 version, so I reverted it back. Is there a good solution to migrate patches, or do I just need to copy down all the settings (or screenshot it) and duplicate them in the new version. I don't have that many songs that use synth1, so maybe that's the best solution.

As long as the banks from 1.05 are placed in the same location
in a new installation, I think they should be loaded by saved projects.
Preset handling is improved, but different in 1.12. You could look at the
preset folders in 1.12, move the first ones in the default install
lower in the collection, replaced by those used in 1.05.
Cheers

Synth1's Tempo Delay as fx plugin would be awesome

I guess I'll fiddle with it and see if I can get a solution.glokraw wrote:As long as the banks from 1.05 are placed in the same location

I also realized I didn't run the reg2ini.exe like I was supposed to.
