Yes, the release on VC76 is somehow ''slow''...

I don't want to be an aliasing police, but someone should check those comps and analyze them, I did...and LOL...

I noticed that the 2A aliases "a little" if the output is overdriven @ 44.1k

It's not the case if we hear it or not... just, usually, poor sat/dist algos have aliasing as a side-effect to that "harsh" dist sound.

So when you hear someone complaining about "low level but fairly noticeable" aliasing, they usually know that's a sign of a rather harsh sounding sat/dist...

...which in this case it's decent to good sounding with that amount of aliasing, at least IMO.

anyway... not really a problem for me since I'll be using these more as compressors than distortion units

... if I'll end up getting them

I prefer the IK Black 76 to the NI VC 76. It always sounds more 'musical' to me. More dynamic without as much clicking.

I really like the VC 2A and having TM as a separate plugin is amazing. I haven't every found a lot of use for the VC 160. I'm hoping we get the Solid Mix Series and Reflektor re-released as well.

They will, just a matter of when. I just rendered some stuff and just playing the a/b's it's really very interesting between the two "black" comps. I feel just the opposite as either are fine, but the NI seems to be more pleasing. I think people are saying that the IK is allegedly more "transparent". Well, I kinda find them the opposite with the IK adding the character. Or maybe it's the lack of character......who knows. All I know is I'll be driving myself crazy playing around with them all weekend

every single distortion plugin ive ever tested that doesnt oversample, exhibits noticeable aliasing when pitchbending in the upper register.

if its a amp sim you can get away with 2x oversample since there isnt much above 10k with guitar amps.

with full band distortion you really want 8x oversample or more.

a compressor that generates just a bit of distortion can probably get away with 2x oversampling to make aliasing inaudible.

one important thing to note is that the Native Instrument compressors can be oversampled when run in the Guitar Rig shell, not sure if the standalone versions use oversampling at all or not.

That's what I figured. Which of course sucks, but I still don't understand something. If take product "a" (we'll say the 76) and put it on something and I like it and don't HEAR any of the aliasing, why does it matter? You're example is beyond obvious. But would it be if it was a drum track?

not at all, in fact sometimes aliasing can make drums sound better (sp-1200)

Sounds nasty, but anyway, who use sounds like that in their music ?

I still use URS Saturation (V2.5) on Drums for example, and like it very much

. Especially the MotorCity and 1951 algos.
