With all due respect, you FAIL !TheoM wrote:ok just checked, 32 bit. How ridiculous. Who released 32 bit only brand new plugins these days?
says 64 bit as soon as humanly possible. but ubk-1 said that almost a year ago when released. So not as soon as humanly possible, as they devoted all the resources into making a new plugin. As soon as humanly possible would have meant devoting a week to make ubk 64 bit, then starting this one.
Bzzzzz. Fail.
If Kush Audio plugins are not x64, is for good reasons.
The developer of UBK-1 is not Studio Devil, who coded Clariphonic DSP.
The coding was outsourced to Cool Stuff Labs, so it's them that are going to port UBK-1 to x64.
Cool Stuff Labs is working on multiple projects, like porting the plugins they did for other companies to AAX, so that may explain the wait.

Yeah, looks like I didTheoM wrote:i guess you missed my explanatory instant apology above?
But seriously, give the developer the time.
You're aware that x86 plugins work in x64 hosts through an integrated bridge.
Ok I admit it's better to have x64 plugins in x64 hosts, but still in the meantime it should work without problems.

Here we go again.K-Slash wrote:You're aware that x86 plugins work in x64 hosts through an integrated bridge.
You know, you CAN swim the Bering Strait without limbs, as proven by this French guy.
I'm with Theo on this.
Personally, I don't care about the background of the plugin.
If it's brand-new and not x64, I know it's going to be a helluva hassle to work with via bit bridge. Workflow impediments, crashes, lost work, shouting profanities, waving fists ... Yes, it would "work" in a way, but not as it should.
Had all that crap in the past by bridging various x86 plugins into x64, so I know it's definitely nothing I'd spend money on again.
If Kush decide to say it's THEIR plugin, then I think it's fair for THEM to get the blame.
And blame is very much appropriate if you coax possible customers into buying your outdated product (again: doesn't matter who made it ... THEY'RE selling it as THEIRS) by promising the people x64 versions "as soon as possible".
At the time the UBK came out, I was really interested.
I mean hey, non-UAD Fatso!
Saw it was 32-Bit only, saw the "it'll be x64 soon" remark, thought "we've heard that one before", and decided to wait with buying it until the x64 version is actually out.
As Theo pointed out, that promise was made a small rodent's lifetime ago, and still there's no x64 version to be found.
So still no cash to Kush from me.
Doesn't matter what you think about how good or bad 32-bit plugins may work in a 64-bit host when bridged - they promised something to be there "soon" to trick people into buying the plugin, and what they promised isn't here yet.
Promise not kept.
And mind you, the "x64 thing" was there long before the new "AAX thing".
So promising to work on a x64 version and then delaying it for an AAX version ... what shitty treatment for paying customers is that?
I'm lucky I'm not one, I can tell ya.
And I just as well can do without supporting that sort of company.
Might be the most pleasant guy(s) in real life, I don't know.
But for a company ... as sorry as I am to write it, that's just what Theo pointed out - a FAIL.
Fail to deliver, fail to keep promise, fail to keep up with standards, fail to finish old work before starting new work, fail to gain people's trust.

Go on, load a 32-bit plugin in 64-bit Reaper.scalawag wrote:Why don't you ask your DAW maker to support 32bit plugins??
If Reaper can do it, why not other major companies??
Open the plugin's GUI ... and hit the SPACE key to start playback.
Please tell me what happens.
Then, click on the "stay on top" pin to keep the plugin's GUI above all other Reaper and plugin windows.
Now please click somewhere onto the Reaper workspace and tell me what happens with the GUI.
"Support" and "work" are very flexible words in this context.
The plugins may load, but the bridging f*cks up the workflow like nothing else.
Also they'll randomly crash Reaper at any time.
Maybe not soon, and maybe not if only one plugin is loaded and no song is going on.
But they will.
I've been using Reaper on Windows and Mac systems now since the free v0.9x Beta days, I know its problems and its strengths. Bridging x86 plugins into x64 Reaper is NOT one of its strengths.
