Ah. Well. Back to the NI comps......I can put them on tracks and I like them.
The only obvious use (and maybe it's supposed to be this way) for the LA-2A for me is on a drum track, find a bit a reduction, and adjust the gain. Is it supposed to be good for a drum buss? Pretty good for bass too with a little work.

its a great plugin for drums, try the tape 30ips setting at 13% saturation. nice brickwall softclip.K-Slash wrote:Sounds nasty, but anyway, who use sounds like that in their music ?@midnight wrote:i should post some more clips of aliasing in action
here's one i made a long time ago, of URS Saturation (remember that plugin?)
http://soundcloud.com/midnight-6/what-i ... tion-doing
warning: loud, high frequency content
I still use URS Saturation (V2.5) on Drums for example, and like it very much. Especially the MotorCity and 1951 algos.
it's horrible for upper register synth leads. stick to something with 8x oversampling for that.
Has anybody ever really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?

I honestly don't know if I love or hate the way these used to look. Does anyone remember what price these intro'd at, or if they've been on sale cheaper than now (disregarding voucher purchases, I suppose)?

Not sure if they are oversampled cause they take so very little CPU.@midnight wrote:a compressor that generates just a bit of distortion can probably get away with 2x oversampling to make aliasing inaudible.
one important thing to note is that the Native Instrument compressors can be oversampled when run in the Guitar Rig shell, not sure if the standalone versions use oversampling at all or not.
Anyway, would have felt comfortable if I was given an option to oversample when I wanted to. ... especially if the plug in question has to do with sat/dist.
...and with companies like NI and Softube ... that won't be hard to implement at all by my guess so why wouldn't they?
+ oversampling might improve the clarity of the attack/release response especially at very fast values, not sure tho!

Hmmmm,
I find it hard lately, to get really excited about another compressor or eq,
on the other hand, since I'm getting these for free ...
btw,
I compared UAD's DBX to NI's and liked UAD's better on electric bass, on acoustic bass it was NI's time to shine, but strictly because of the dry/wet knob, this really made a huge difference.
cheers,
k

I wish someone who has both would post examplessoulata wrote:Hmmmm,

There's talk in GS that the new native plug-ins sound different than the Guitar Rig versions. Some say GR is better.
Do you get the GR versions with the new plug-ins?
It might actually be kind of cool to get two versions for the price of one, or currently, the price of one-half, I guess.

Actually, it would make sense if there was SOME difference. GR has gain staging doesn't it?. These really don't. I can imagine it being very different. But I don't care, I like the standalone. I never could get to grips with the GR thing (other than for an amp sim of course)

I could do it on Sunday. Could you send me a track to work on?hibidy wrote:I wish someone who has both would post examplessoulata wrote:Hmmmm,

What settings do you need tested/compared?
I have a few projects of my own here that I could use, but if you need something else compressed, do tell.

Bought it and I'm very happy with this babies
Bad side is only for my UAD, it will not be used so often like in the past
On this (unfinished) track I used only the NI comps. Never used the UAD DBX160 very often but with the NI DBX 160 this could be changed. Heavy used on the bass here... 1176 on sounds with more transients and the LA2A on "smoother" sounds like pads.

hi guys
i am really interested in those pulgins, although i already have transient master
these compressors...how do they sound like? are they suitable for masterin or for bus comrpession ? which "flavour" do they give to your sounds?

4damind: That's a sweet track. It got my head bobbing and that "out" note made me smile. There's lots of cool stuff in there.
