Cheapest way to Live 9?

I do think I'll be getting Intro sometime soon, just to get past the track limitations, everything else in Lite is fine for me for now, 8 scenes are fine for me, I use the scenes more for sketching ideas out to be arranged later anyhow. 6 external VSTs at a time is OK, especially since I love using Live's internal effects since they are so well integrated. As much use of internal stuff I can use the better. I can easily get a new scale and arp going for instance, that is 2 VSTs down right there that I would be using. That and using multi-timbral plugins should make it pretty minimal for me.
One thing in Lite is I do have the Groove Pool and can grab three grooves, is this available in Intro? This would be something I wouldn't want to do without.
Also, in the Suite, how good is the midi extraction from audio files? How does it compare to Melodyne in Studio One?

The new live 9 intro is different from 8's. First is just 16 tracks, but any you want to choose between audio and midi.
Now it brings some libraries (drums) and more important: drum racks.

Yeah it says groove pool and extract groove are not included in Intro now.

I can deal with 16 agnostic tracks, that works fine for my needs.

What's the external VSTi limit in 9? Still limited to four?rod_zero wrote:https://www.ableton.com/en/live/feature-comparison/

It sounds like you can have 16 tracks total, of any mix, so you could have 16 audio or 16 mid (VSTis I assume). It looks like the VST count limit is gone, just a track limit which I think is a better arrangement.Alfalfa wrote:What's the external VSTi limit in 9? If the groove pool is not available in Intro 9, that is a major bummer, I was very happy to find that in Lite 8.

yer kidding yourself. You don't need suite persay, but the full version is a necessity.

If I buy Intro, it is surely a slippery slope to buying the Suite eventually. I had some issues running 8 on my old machine, and a weird install on my new machine, and had kind of written Live off as 'dead to me' and moved on, but if 9 is nice I will probably move back. I want to see how well it all works of course when it is released, but Intro is at least worth the risk.

Now, can anyone tell me why the Live icon in my Win 7 dock is giving the default Windows blank icon? It works fine, just something went wrong with the icon. When I try and drag it back into the dock from the app folder, it still gives the blank icon.

So far, the best price for the upgrade path to 9 that I've seen is at bestservice.de.
The upgrade from Live Lite 8 to Live 8 is around 265$, and the Suite 8 Upgrade is around 425$. It's the box upgrade with more content than the download, and you get the free upgrade to Live 9 or Live Suite 9. The price change daily in US price because of the exchange rate.
Also, you can get another 10% off the price if you buy another item in their store that cost at least 50 Euros.
In the past, I think I saw them doing some sales, something like 20% off, so maybe with some luck it could be added to the rebate at some end of year sale if it applies to all their store. I might buy the Suite 8 upgrade if there is such a sale before Live 9 is out and the free upgrade is available.
I already have Studio One 2 Professionnal, Sonar X2 Producer and FL Studio 10 Signature Bundle, so I'm hesitating to get the Live 8 Suite upgrade, because I'm not sure there is enough different stuff in Live to spend that much money on another DAW.
What do you think??
