I use Lexicon Reverb as my standard plugin. But I dont know what the good settings are for example a house synth.

Is it a little pre-delay or not? Whats a good reverbtime etc. etc.

Can you give me some tips, to use reverb good?

You don't understand- your question shows very clearly that you have no idea how reverb is used.

It is no different than if you said "I am going to be cooking in my new kitchen, how much salt should I use?"

It's highly unlikely that your take on the situation here is mistaken, but it might be: I have Lexicon reverb too, it came bundled with my Lexicon Omega (170 Euros). I don't use it, doesn't hold a candle to Valhalla Room, but hey- in the interest of fairness and not jumping to conclusions...

You don't understand- your question shows very clearly that you have no idea how reverb is used.

It is no different than if you said "I am going to be cooking in my new kitchen, how much salt should I use?"

i would say is more like having a brand new oven and asking what temperature to cook something at!

just joking brotha haha . but seriously on that analogy , you wouldn't cook every thing you have at the same temperature right? its the same thing with reverb, there is no "perfect" setting. It depends on the sounds and what you're trying to do with them.

However, some really good advice i got was to make sure you alwayssssss eq your reverb otherwise just a little will make your whole mix sound muddy. Find places in the mix for all your verbs, always low-cut, because verbs can sometimes create some low frequencies that will leave your low end muddy. And I like to always side chain my reverb, at least a little bit, i think it just cleans thing up a bit.

There are no magic buttons and if one perfect setting existed for everything there wouldn't be any knobs there....

Don't overdo the effect, in the beginning it's tempting to crank the reverb too high, either with too much length or too much loudness. It'll probably take your ear a while to find maturity here.

Unless you're playing the reverb for effect you want it to be a subtle spice to add dimension to the sound. If you can't hear the reverb stick out on the track but you CAN hear the difference when you mute the reverb, that's usually a good thing. Pre-delay gives the listener spatial cues about how big the space is, and also can keep the reverb seperate from the transients in the track, keeping things cleaner. You can get good effects by setting the predelay to a quarternote or something similar.

I also almost always highpass my reverbs or all but one of them, or highpass them whenever there's a bass instrument playing, etc... Where or if you put the highpass of course is up to you and like most things depends on the context.
