hehe. I dunno, I could live w/o a bunch of the "extras" but like I said, the full version is indeed the shit and I wanted the full upgrade path.

Again, Session drums and Drum Machines is pretty kewl. I use session drums every day! (I like the live integration). I have superior drummer, but again.....integration, racks, groups, unlimited tracks/FX, it's worth at least getting the full version

I think I'll stash away $50 a month for the standard version and eventually get the suite. I'm just on a limited income and that isn't changing, and I have already crazily over-extended myself. I can't really see selling off anything to finance Live, it would be like increasing the cost paid which would be a bummer. So I just have to be patient. I wish I could make monthly payments, rent to own

I find myself considering selling off some gear to pay for Live, at least the Standard version for now. I just had really forgotten how nice the overall interface is, I also use Studio One and though it is a single-window interface paradigm as well, its plugins float which makes them either be seen/hidden, but Live for many things I need allows the plugins to all be shown and easy to work with as a pretty organic feeling group. And third party plug parameters can be configured so they feel fairly native. Anyhow I'm just falling in love all over again with Live, they did so many things right and it looks like in 9 they have more midi tools to get little things done like transposing so I think most of my former midi complaints are pretty well addressed. Using the included scale plugin is wonderful.

Anyhow I'm wondering what plugins to put on the chopping block. I just spent $300 on a new interface and my wife was incredibly understanding about that, a new DAW she may not understand at all.

I figure I should hold onto Studio One as my final mixing and mastering DAW, and that these two likely will play nicely together once there is a 64 bit Live. I am considering installing 32 bit S1 and bridging RAM heavy plugs like Trilian if 64 bit anyhow so I guess i could test that all out soon. If anyone has any experience with this combo maybe you can advise me how best to use the two together. My experience with Live is the audio seems a little shaky sometimes, just little pops or clicks once in a while that just aren't happening with other hosts.

So I guess I can install a 64 bit version for of my current Lite license now, and get a stable supported build soon. Cool! I still may find that I can use both my current Lite version and Studio One, which also has a 2.5 version coming very soon. If only I had more patience....

I was recalling how previously you could buy Operator from within Live 5, and how it would be cool if I could just purchase an expanded track count, like buy 8 more universal tracks for $50 or something. I would be very into that sort of arrangement where i could build up my own custom version of Live, buying the plugins I personally need. I did hear something about a possible store, is that still a possibility?

Yeah, I don't think it is, it seems that anyone buying 8 NOW will get an upgrade for free, their way of not losing sales after announcing 9.

Well witg much thanks to V0RT3X I have Intro 8 now, it has the groove pool still, and 1 more groove slot

so that's nice. It is still limited to 4 tracks but using multi-out plugins like Trilian is easy, so I have more midi synths, so no problem. 2 more scene slots is welcome and probably enough for me. Anyhow, I'm loving it, I can happily work in Live again with more than 8 tracks, yipee!

Yea I think thats poor wording, had to go back and look at the bottom in the terms and conditions area:

"Ableton Live 8 and Suite 8 as well as upgrades to them include a free upgrade to the respective edition of Live 9 - to be issued as soon as it is released."

I really doubt that means they are giving everyone a free upgrade, rather that it means if you purchase either a new copy of live 8, or purchase an upgrade to 8, that you will get 9 for free
