really didn't dig the 'sorry' email with links to buy waves stuff on friday only.. almost feel like the delay was/is a cheap way to spam everyone looking for a free plugin to buy other waves products..
edit: as i wrote this I got the following reply:
more hoops.. awesome. no thanksThis is an automatic email: sales@waves.com<mailto:sales@waves.com> has been disabled.

If your plugin is a Synth-edit/synth-maker creation, Say So.

that's not how it works...VitaminD wrote:Tehnik wrote:
And all of the plugins are individuals... not in some 800 MB jumbo large shell (if you get the offline version).
the individual plugins are in your waves\plug-ins folder.
the WaveShell just points the DAW to it....

Well.
my NI Komplete7 installation takes up more than 8 hours...
without downloading ..
So I seriously don't know which is better...
I think they're both less than ideal. at least Waves gives you an option for an online installer.
which means you don't need the whole package to install 1 plugin.

You are now defending.. using NI Komplete as your baseline. I'm not fighting you. My opinion still stands. I'm allowed to have one that is opposed to yours.
Btw, using Komplete doesn't work in your argument either way.. since you get to pick and chose what you want to install from the initial NI installer and it's already on DVD so there is no downloading. Besides that's largely a butt ton of sample libraries and these are effects plugins.
It's apples and oranges.
If for whatever reason you wanted to defend your beloved Waves software, you could try raising the point of them being all-in-one and not having to download anything more if you downloaded the offline installer (and ordered other Waves plugins later). But, like I already mentioned, I'm not arguing over the internet about something so pointless.

actually... some corrections are in place.VitaminD wrote: Btw, using Komplete doesn't work in your argument either way.. since you get to pick and chose what you want to install from the initial NI installer and it's already on DVD so there is no downloading. true you have the installer. on the DVD.
but after you've installed just what you want.
you open up the 'service center' and it shows you A TON of updates and additional content
you need to download and install ONE BY ONE
also... if you let the service center 'auto update' before you've activated for the 1st time the license then you're screwed.
also.. you cannot install the individual plugins without the KOMPLETE installer.

Why are we bashing NI now now? I thought that was reserved for IK multimedia.

hehe...
I love NI stuff... even the stuff I don't have..
(Komplete installation is a drag man...)
but IK doesn't even have 1 product I even like...
and they used to spam the heck out of me until they got tagged as 'spam' (by me!)

I tried to install the license manager to demo a few but it asks for vcredist.msi at the end but it won't load, it seems to be looking for the x86 version which is in the utilities folder and i'm on x64.
