hmm... I'm on x64 too. I remember it auto-installed vcredist after it installed the plugins.
weird... do you have UAC turned on by any chance?

No it looks like it was a windows update i hadn't installed but i installed it and rebooted, ran the installer again, repair but i can't run the license manager at all. I'm trying it on my daw which is all up to date so it should be fine, i'll find out in a minute. :|

Looks like I didn't get it. I signed up friday, and just received marketing emails.
It is these kind of things that makes a company lose me as a potential customer.

Me either but i haven't had any emails since the one about the one plugin although i am met with cyber monday deals when i click on the link. :| Trueverb seems like a decent reverb for $23 so can't be too mad.

Besides that's largely a butt ton of sample libraries and these are effects plugins. It's apples and oranges.
actually... some corrections are in place.
true you have the installer. on the DVD.

but after you've installed just what you want.
you open up the 'service center' and it shows you A TON of updates and additional content
you need to download and install ONE BY ONE

also... if you let the service center 'auto update' before you've activated for the 1st time the license then you're screwed.

also.. you cannot install the individual plugins without the KOMPLETE installer.
You can run the installer and choose just one plugin. BUT when NI chooses to give something away, they are not forcing you to download whole Komplete package - they just give you individual installers.

It doesn't matter though - what makes problems is the stupid waveshell.dll that points to actual plugins dlls - this way of dealing with installation causes nothing but problems. I don't see any advantage over placing individual plugins into vstplugins folder.

But there's another question - and it touches NI's freebies too - if they're giving something away for free, why bother with serials and activations? Half of the people probably used three emails anyway, "just in case" they would need additional licenses.

Wow, it's like "How to ruin your company's reputation in one simple step" :?

this plugin in its essence (without all the additional bloat) is less than 1mb. they shoud just make a 1.5mb installer, get rid of the stupid activation - people could download and use it quickly, it's free after all so whats the point of copy protection? or at least make it simpler, serial number. it's rather high quality so maybe I would consider buying one of their other plugins, but now that I know how much hassle it causes and how much of an effort is required only to get it working - thanks Waves, but no thanks.

Waves is a joke. I've already BLOCKED them from my email addy and if they ever do send this plugin I'll send it back !

Another company that lost the respect of the music community.

It looks like they must've run out of stock sometime Saturday - I didn't get mine either... :hihi:

@ Tehnik

The elimination of copy protection of promorional / limited time / whatever software offers, TOTALY MAKES NO SENSE. They are essentially giving away their work for free to you, and you are moaning about taking 10 seconds to register it...

Be grateful or DON'T USE IT, if it bothers you so much!

The Waves installer is just 2,63 MB and the only plugin that it downloads is the one that is going to be installed. They also install their license center and the shell that manages all their plugins. That's their system and it makes sense for them because they have dozens and dozens of different products.

A bit excessive, no? They gave away a product for the first time and the demand has probably been a lot bigger than they expected. No need to attack them here for that and no need to speak in the name of "the music community" so lightly.

Congratulations for your first post in five years, though.

I'm the first to give companies the benefit of the doubt - especially when it comes to web servers, activation, etc., and especially the smaller developers. I've been there myself with problems on holiday weekends. But Waves is not a one-man shop, and there were no problems generating marketing e-mails. How long does it take a server to generate a license key?

Anyone purchase the Waves plugs during the sale? Wondering how that went...

In any case, I still can't imagine they'd screw this up on purpose - after all, the purpose of the free download would be to entice you to buy the package or other Waves plugs during the sale, which ends today. But the marketing e-mail smells - would have been more professional to send the courtesy announcement sans the marketing hype, which essentially says "we failed to deliver the free product as promised, would you like to purchase something instead?"

From the e-mail (announcing a 48-hour delay):
"OneKnob Series
Now that you've got Louder, complete the collection with Brighter, Driver, Wetter, Pressure, Phatter and Filter, now at its lowest price ever!
"

:?

- BTW, anyone read that and think Snow White? Or Daft Punk? :hihi:
