Hey,

I'm still around. :) Replied to your email and PM. Thanks. My solution requires copying a working installation to the new OSX computer. You may also want to read this post here, from Josh who is a QA Engineer at Cakewalk with another method that has worked.

Cheers!

5) Once the 'Sharing & Permissions' is unlocked, change the permissions to 'Read & Write' for system, wheel, and everyone. :-o

He recommends changing permissions to "everyone", really??

There's a reason it's set the way it is.
Oh well, it's your computer...

BTW - I was doing everything you mentioned in the PM, I was missing not copying com.apple.inetdserv.plist as well.
Thanks.

Yep, that's the "special" file. I think his request was to not publish it, but rather email him for details. Edit maybe?

I just changed my account to RW and Everyone R. But if someone else logged on, it may not work. I don't know what edits DimPro performs on that file.

I'm going to call Cakewalk on Monday, but does anyone know why my PC rx2 files won't work when copied over? I get some "encryption key" error. I haven't encrypted anything. Shouldn't I be able to just copy and refresh?

Yeah Dimension Pro can load REX files (I don't use the REX patches). So my instructions didn't include copying over the REX Shared library file.

Grab it here:

http://www.propellerheads.se/download/i ... edlibrary/

Should go here:

/Library/Application Support/Propellerhead Software/Rex-Dimension/REX Shared Library.bundle

Good luck,

Still can't install on Lion huh?

WTF Cakewalk?

Post

Thanks again, Chad.

Your steps worked perfectly for an installation on Mountain Lion.

(NOTE: I haven't tried the protools plug yet. I noticed that it was not updated with the combo updater.)

What I've discovered is that one instance of Rapture works fine (so far).

But one major bug I am experiencing is that if I use more than one instance of Rapture, Rapture loses the links to all of the asset files, even if I go back to the first instance, the preset browser is empty, and attempting to manually load a preset leads to error messages that Rapture cannot find support files for that program, etc. So all the links are lost, which is kind of a headache.

Same thing happened in Garage Band and Studio One.

I thought it might be a relative directory call problem v a global call problem. Nope, tried editing the program list with a global call to the root directory and it didn't fix anything.

Definitely a glitch. I also realized that you can still scroll through the presets in the first instance even though the preset browser is empty. And the programs (presets) attempt to load but none of the supporting files (multi samples, etc.) can be found.

Doesn't happen on the Leopard machine I used for the transfer.

On an unrelated note, when installing additional presets("programs") I was unable to use the f5 shortcut to reset the preset browser . Trashing the preset file in the asset folder was the only way I found to rebuild the list.

Just want to add another big thanks to Chad. Followed his instructions and had Rapture working on Lion in a matter of minutes.

Any chance of the instructions? I have attempted my own version from reading the previous posts but get another error about installation not complete.
PM'd Chad but no reply :(

Thanks Chad unfortunately I do not have any friendswith Lion to share the needed files :( best $20 I have wasted do!

I just spent an entire night getting this to work.

One thing I found out is that if you get the plugin to install and get the proper codes (the ones you purchased, serial and activation) in the plist files (that you can't just install but have to access somewhere else first e.g. internet, or, other working install on an earlier version of OS X) an easy way to get all the waveforms and patches is to run the 1.2.1 hot fix from the Rapture downloads on the Cakewalk website (you have to login with your serial and email). This got all my patches and waveforms installed and it's finally working, hopefully I'm not missing anything.

If I can do this how hard could it be to update the installer? This a good view of what this company is like and it really doesn't make me want to do business with them in the future...

I had 10.6 install disc that came with my Mac. So had to install that on a newly created partition efor the sake of Rapture alone! Then copied files and godd to go. Can't you just download 10.6 installer for free if you already own Lion?
