Ingo, have you asked them why they have chosen to cripple their swing by restricting it to a few predetermined swing settings? ElectraX had a proper percentage swing like any other synth, but with Saurus they decided to restrict this and continued this apparently with Rayblaster. Why would they do this?

Also, do you know yet if the lfo's and other buttons are automatable. Again, they used to make everything automatable and then with Saurus they began to restrict things. The ability to map every control is something that always appealed to me about tone2 synths before.

Hi everyone,

everything seems to run well towards the release of Rayblaster.

Besides the video also the official audio demo is free to publish. Here is a compilation of some links:

1.) Official Rayblaster website:

http://www.tone2.com/html/rayblaster_sy ... st_au.html
IMS details:
http://www.tone2.com/html/impulse_model ... is__i.html

2.) New video with description of the features and GUI (already posted earlier):

3.) Official Rayblaster MP3 audio demo (around 19 minutes long):

Official Tone2 Rayblaster MP3 Audio Demo

4.) The full version of my own audio demo which in parts is included in the official demo:

Ingo Weidner - Empire Of Rays - Rayblaster Demo 1

ZIP file with WAV file for better quality:
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/53230726/Ingo% ... mo%201.zip

This audio demo is based on 6 instances of Rayblaster and one instance of D16 Group Drumazon (= TR-909 emulation). No external FXs (also no Compressor) were used while rendering.

Here is a different version ("Remix") using a different drum part based on FXpansion Geist instead of Drumazon:

Ingo Weidner - Empire Of Rays - Remix 1

UPDATE:

5.) Rayblaster forum:

Have fun,
Ingo

Demos sound great.

No, there is no stacking included. Anyway you got two oscillators which each could load two waveforms that could be mixed. The waveform mix of each oscillator could be modulated (like most other oscillator parameters). Each oscillator got it's own controls for the Formant (= Cutoff) value etc.

BTW my demo posted above includes a pad sound that emulates wavetable scanning. This is done with a long waveform that was built from several smaller waveforms and some crossfading. With a low harmonic setting you could then "zoom" into that long waveform and "scan" trough it with modulation of the "start Phase" parameter. in the pad sound used for the demo both an envelope and the Arp pattern were used to modulate the start phase of Osc1 and Osc2.

Some of those "wavetables" and also some single cycle waveforms which i created will be included in the waveform content.
An expansion with more presets and maybe also additional waveforms should not take too long after the official release of Rayblaster.

The waveforms in Rayblaster are saved with the presets so additional waveforms should be already included with the presets.

I have Electrax, Filterbank, Bifilter and Warmverb by Tone2 so I'm certainly not a member of the anti-Tone2 camp. I also have Alchemy that has a similar buy presets option but it can be hidden so it doesn't bother me - if the same was true of this synth it would equally be fine by me.
What irritates me is that this is right on the front panel and totally unnecessary. Put it in the help menu and I'm fine with it but I don't want to see it every time I open the GUI. As I said, I know it's only a little thing but it really does bother me and is both intrusive advertising and totally beneath Tone2 IMHO.

Thanks Ingo, nice sounds

Firebird also has this sort of link, so it is nothing new. Once you know it is there it is easy enough to avoid. I do think it is strange to call a few presets an 'expansion' like new functionality is added when it is just some more presets. But they are not the only ones marketing presets like that.

Marcus answered this during that Saurus thread, something about in combination with other settings it is capable of more than is there in the swing settings. I don't have either installed so I can't say, and I agree it is annoying to not just have a straight, clear fully adjustable swing setting.

synthmaster has this as well; it's no big deal, you use what you want, and ignore the rest. rayblaster looks (and seems to) sound great, am excited about this one. i use electrax, and, occasionally, saurus. am more excited about this new plugin.

amazing how much discussion there's been for something not yet released. will be interesting to follow this thread once we're actually USING the plugin...!

Official Tone2 Rayblaster MP3 Audio Demo

 Help! I've been Rayblasted! Those sounds not only 'cut through the mix', they cut through my brain too.

Fortunately, Ingo's demo is a lot easier on the ears and much more interesting sounding to me. :tu:

Hi,

first i apologize if i sounded too harsh.

I have added a comment about the "Buy sounds" feature at the Beta tester forum but i also added a notice that this is not a big problem for myself.

It would be also good that as a Tone2 customer you would add a comment yourself. You could use the new Rayblaster forum:

http://www.tone2.org/forum/index.php?board=30.0

If you are not registered for the forum you could do it here:
http://www.tone2.org/forum/index.php?action=register

You'll need your Share-It ordering number for this as usually only customers could enter the forum.
