Interesting! It seems like it will have virtual midi and background audio too! :-)

Have they enlarged the GUI or changed it any? Everything i hear about it is that it's really poor because it's exactly the same cramped GUI from the original desktop software.

I traded my ipad 2 in on an ipad mini... I bet this would be nearly impossible to use....

My understanding was that the complaint was with the iPhone version, and that there was no complaint with the ipad version.

Edit: Check out the brief tutorial that is currently posted on today's Rebirth update announcement at discchord.com. It looks easy enough to do on an ipad. :-)

Where did you do your trade in? Do they do updates from ipad 2 to ipad 4?

For some reason I ignored this app for a long time - I just started playing it today & I'm in love with the acid 303 sound! The delay, distortion, & filters all sound amazing!! Now to make some full length tracks... <3

Really? I thought it was more about mouse vs touch design ideals in general. I couldn't even imagine it on an iPhone. [shudder]

I guess I'm not missing much. I never got comfortable with it even on regular computers. I really need to see my note data. It's the opposite of the "work with your ears" ideals but it's how I am.

They overworked the GUI btw, so, no, it's not the same GUI as on PC. Still the same layout though, which i think is a good thing, since you can operate everything on one screen.

Post

as far as i can see the GUI is still the same on ipad? So,knobs are still way to small for my taste.yep, its not an"all in one" app but the finger bassline shows how to create real fun using a virtual"303"and a touchscreen.

Has anyone tried out the update yet? I can't figure a lot of it out. How do you turn on background audio? How do you flip the instruments around? How do you MIDI sync? There is a new tab/button labeled "Sync" which lets me setup the MIDI slave, but couldn't figure out what to do after that. There is also a new 'Duo' tab/button which I can't get to do anything.

The on-line manual said nothing about these new features.

The one bug I noticed is the main page was not always showing the correct mod/skin. Entering the project would display the correct mod, and I had to save the project for the correct skin to display in the main page.

Hi, to quickly answer ur Qs - background audio, exit Rebirth, go to your iPad's Settings, scroll down to Rebirth, then turn it on. Flip instrument, if I understand u, is the duo mode, where the drums face one direction & the synths face the other, so 2 people can play on one iPad - if u mean change orientation, just turn your iPad's screen lock off. Sync, has to be setup in your master app, eg BeatMaker2 to send midi clock out to Rebirth, u must turn on Rebirth's background mode first though :).

All the best :)

Post

Gdog, thanks! Getting background turned on let me sync with genome sequencer. I never thought of looking in the settings app. I realized the duo mode only works with the base sounds/screen. It did not work when I was using it with mods.

You're welcome iPlogger :)

I agree that devs should put the background audio button inside the app, preferably on a main page. Re duo mode & mods - ahh yes, I haven't even tried the mods yet, still having fun with the default sounds! <3
