So, I've been messing around with Beatmaker 2 recently...it's working out real nice as my go to app for writing and composing. DrumJam is amazing....very versatile. Now, this may be "old hat" to some, but I was writing a piece in BM2 and switched to DrumJam...made a loop and hit play...BM2 started playing my track inside DrumJam and I was able to craft loops while listening to my tracks in BM2...anyhow, just thought it was cool and was able to save and paste loops on the fly to BM2 as well....nice. Here's a little preview of a new track I'm working on called "Hanging Gardens". It's just bare bones for now but I will be adding bass and guitar as well as more intricate drums and piano work.

AudioBus preview:
Another preview with guitar and bass added...all done on ipad 3....drums: DrumJam piano:BM2 guitar and bass:JamUp. I loaded the backing track (drums and piano) into Multitrack DAW and recorded guitars and bass with JamUp using AudioBus....yes it works, no idea on release date yet, but I've been testing it out and seems to be working great. Exported mix to Remaster for EQ....not final, but sounds decent so far.

Wait, did you start by hitting play in beatmaker2, then opening drum jam while beatmaker was still playing? If so, how did you get background audio to kep playing in beatmaker? I can't seem to find that toggle.

I just kept BM2 open in the background and when I pressed play for loop in DrumJam, Beatmaker automatically started playing...midi?

Hi Seal, if I understand, for BM2 to stay in background, u have to enable it in your iPad's Settings under BM2. To get BM2 to play when un play a loop in DrumJam, inside DJ u go to its Settings, scroll down to Midi Setup, & make sure it's sending midi clock to BM2. When u press play it should start BM2. I just tested this quickly & it works, but u can probably set it up in BM2's midi settings too.sealpt wrote:Wait, did you start by hitting play in beatmaker2, then opening drum jam while beatmaker was still playing? Ahh, there it is in the system settings of the Ipad. I always forget about that set up. Most of the time the "run audio in background" is in the app itself and not necessarily in the overall system settings.
This changes everything about the way I've been writing. I'll have to dig into this more.
Thanks guys,
Shawn

Auria is cool, but still crashes all the time on me. Multitrack DAW is simple to use and very intuitive. "Mix" is just setting individual track levels, panning, compression, delays, verb..etc. then I put everything in to remaster where I can sculpt EQ in stereo...Multitrack Daw is $10, and it has never failed me...Auria is kind of a pain in the arse!!

Wow! I had skipped this thread but decided to read it today. That sounds fantastic Derek. Now I'm interested in both DrumJam and BM2. I had originally skipped DrumJam as I had picked up ThumbJam and was a bit disappointed with it (didn't really meet any needs I had).
> piano:BM2
Are you saying the piano you used is from BeatMaker2? Or was it something you imported into BM2? Is it one of the standard piano sounds? I really liked the sound and nice job with the delay.

piano was done with BM2...standard in-app file...one of the grand piano patches...had to change the sustain and release....bumped them both up to get that nice "hang time". BM2 has a great piano sound...I really like GarageBand mobile for piano as well, but this has a more realistic sound to it. Thanks for checking it out! DrumJam is really cool once you get to messing around with it...iPlogger wrote:Wow! I had skipped this thread but decided to read it today. That sounds fantastic Derek. I really like the SampleTank and iGrand apps for acoustic pianos, but that BM2 sound is different and I really liked it. Certainly one I'd like to add to my list of pianos.
Spent a bit of time watching videos of DrumJam today. Looks like another app I'm now interested in.
Thanks again for sharing.
