But I still think he made the wrong choice in "up"grading to a new interface that actually REDUCES the functionality that was previously available. What is VST3 giving him that he couldn't do before in VST 2.4? (Easier cross-platform development is the answer. Though that doesn't help customers any.)
It was meant as a joke, I didn't mean you spilled the dirt on u-he, but Steinberg. Steinberg is a developer too right?

Yes I had to get the PDF manual just to find it, but it's called Note Sync, true a defined phase would be a huge bonus. There is nothing like the snap of a trance pluck with phase reset. And basses for that matter.

Urs, please accept my gratitude for your work, Diva is just an incredible synth and the news of an Arp with all the features you mentioned is just great, and on top of all that you still have so many things you are planning to add, please don't stop!

Oh, yes, absolutely. Ever since Yamaha bought them out they haven't done an honest days' work. (IMHO!)

I think you definitely should do an interview in one of the music tech magazines, this kind of material would really add a dimension they so far are missing :D

I think most of them would be reluctant to "bite the hand that feeds". (i.e. Steinaha/Yamaberg).

They still make good products, but, to me, their betrayal of MIDI is unforgivable. (And I say this a day after MIDI's 30th birthday!)

Where do I buy a controller that sends "note events"? :hihi:

voices from another room:

Fritz: "machst du da gerade Swing?"
Clemens: "Yeah, fertig"

So indeed, looks like swing is going to be part of it.

Yeah, it's stunning even though I'd find other words for it.

We're seriously contemplating to figure out how to do 64 bit VST2 on Mac. Looks like we have to patch the binaries and hope they can still be signed properly.

Oh yeah. You guys rock. :D

And now for the most important thing in an arp... drum roll....

....tie per step? (gliding when in mono legato)

Isn't that merely a sequencer feature?

No it's definitely an arp feature!

Nope. I'll refer you to the wonderful arp in a little synth called Zebra. ;)
Slides arpeggiated notes just beautifully (As do of course many other synths like FM8, Sylenth1, Blue, Predator, Albino, Corona, SynthMaster, etc.)

Just like legato glide, it's only going to make sense on monophonic patches. But yes, it should imply that the sequencer/arp sends the previous note-off AFTER the next note-on has been sent (which is what legato playing is).

I get a lot of requests for an arpeggiator too, but I still see very little value in bolting it onto one instrument, other than the slight improvement in real-time latency that's possible. (And being able to take a MIDI out from it of course makes it much more useable for driving other synths and/or recording and editing the pattern.)

Poly-Ana sends MIDI out, from its virtual keyboard and pitch/mod wheels. Mostly just because it took 5 minutes to implement and seemed like it might come in handy for someone, somewhere, someday. But yes, something you can't do at all in VST3s. :(

It is in the Zebra arp ;)
