apparently, I'm a KVR-ian

others are KVR-ists, or KVR-AFs, KVR-ers, KVR-whatevers . . .

what are the these distinctions all about ?

It's just a post-count thing. It changes as your post-count increases. Anything that doesn't start with KVR is a special name bestowed upon members by the mods/owner/whatever. I don't think that really happens much now though. All of the people with non KVR tags are old timers AFAIK.

edit: Incidentally, I only just noticed that I'm now KVRAF. I think that happens at 1500 posts which I've only hit in the last month or so.

I guess it doesn't really mean much now. KVR was kind of post-count centric in the early days. Post counts used to be displayed under each post, and it was almost like a badge of honour. I remember vurt was the runaway post-count leader for what seemed like forever. They replaced the post-count display under each post with the member number some time around 2004. We weren't happy, I tell you. Well, weren't happy for a day or two anyway. Especially me as I was member one thousand one hundred and something as 'kd' before I decided that I wanted a new username.

I prefer it this way with the member numbers instead of post counts, because seeing member numbers in the hundreds of thousands is a great everyday reminder of just how big the community has become and how many of us share this mad interest in all things bleepy and bloopy. Hoorah for KVR!
