How come they don't automate that discount thing? Like, you go to their website, register your products, and get a discount dependent on the bought products. But ok, maybe they are like more money going into their counter when the people don't know they can get a discount.Ingonator wrote: Existing Tone2 customers should seriously consider contacting Bastiaan about a discount:

It must be a permissions-issue - as Tone2 products on a Mac are installed right in the root folder of HD/Library/Audio/Plug-Inspdxindy wrote:zvenx wrote:I am on 10.6.8 and it installed fine....

Hmmm... then it is something more specific than OS version...
(which is a nuisance, no other dev does this).

No, it seems these guys like receiving E-mailschk071 wrote:But ok, maybe they are like more money going into their counter when the people don't know they can get a discount.
I don't get it either, why can't they just announce the rebate for existing customers on the website.
If they are going to answer every customer in separate E-mails, it's gonna be a lot of work for them

I have the Saurus demo on my computer and it is installed in the same place as all the other plug-ins
HD/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins then Components for the AU and VST for the VST

You are right. I didnt spend much time with it at all. But for the short amount of time i spent that was my view.Ingonator wrote:I don't think it's possible to get a clue how Rayblaster really works in a few minutes and not even in a few days...rope wrote:My exact thoughts. Demoed for a few minutes then deleted.Echoes in the Attic wrote:Man, tone2 synths really do sound similar to each other. But I guess that happens sometimes. Arturia are like that too. Different features and functions on the different synths but very similar underlying sound.
This is no simple synth even if the GUI maybe looks like that.
The claim that you deleted it after a few minutes shows that both you did not check all presets (which is not possible in that time) and second did not try to program it yourself (maybe just by tweaking some of the presets).
Some people also seem to have a wrong expectation in what a new type of synthesis should look like.
Again: This does not really include a filter by default The filter response is based o the waveform you enter. If you use a waveform from an analog synth the result will sound familiar but the fact that you could import a filter response from a synth is new and IMO very interesting.
I have create single cycle wavers of several synths and even with using the same filter type they still sound at least slightly different in Rayblaster, especially when using Resonant waveforms.
Even if around 1000+ presets were submitted by the sound designers most of them agree that we just scratched the surface of what should be really possible.
This paired with an easy to use GUI is just great IMO.
Personally i have not really used the Resynthesis feature so far as i had enough work using my own waveforms.

i actually tried the demo and after a couples of hours decided i wanted it and just wrote them an email asking if there was any discounts for people that already owned a couple of their synths and effects
never hurts to ask
i just dont get why so much drama about discounts wont get ti if you dont ask

funny thing is i did not see the post from markus about writing Bastian about discounts until today

Sure, tha AU component is, but all the supporting files are in the root folder, at least that's where my ElectraX was installed (which is the only Tone2 product, I have licenced).pdxindy wrote:Sampleconstruct wrote:It must be a permissions-issue - as Tone2 products on a Mac are installed right in the root folder of HD/Library/Audio/Plug-Inspdxindy wrote:zvenx wrote:I am on 10.6.8 and it installed fine....

So I thought that it could be that the installer for Rayblasterfaster (which I won't demo) might not have the permissions to install in that place.

No drama, i just wonder if they would not get more people to buy their products when they offer a general discount for their customers. And as Numanoid wrote, it's gotta be a lot of work for their support to get through all those emails... + this "under the counter" thing is a bit weird.cain wrote:i actually tried the demo and after a couples of hours decided i wanted it and just wrote them an email asking if there was any discounts for people that already owned a couple of their synths and effectsnever hurts to ask

ironically as I was going thru the demo again just now, I was remembering some of YOUR work on Absynth etc.
it actually sounds right up your alley.
I don't think it does bread and butter sounds well, but for the more abstract very digitally sounding stuff it seems to be doing interesting stuff there..maybe the method is unique, but to my ear it sounds very similar to stuff in Absynth and Iris and Padshop etc.

Wavetable synthesis doesn't interest me anymore and in the resynthing domain I'm totally covered with tools and apps so I just don't need another tool of the same/similar concept, why demo it then?zvenx wrote:How come?Sampleconstruct wrote:...........

No, because the permissions-setting to that root folder might be wrong on your system, get info on that folder (aaple+i) and check the permissions settings.pdxindy wrote:
