No, because the permissions-setting to that root folder might be wrong on your system, get info on that folder (aaple+i) and check the permissions settings.
Permissions are fine for the folder... besides, if you cannot write to that folder, you could not write to a folder within that folder...

Anyway, it is something else

Even after i have done many many explanations in this thread some people still don't seem to have a clue about what Rayblaster really does.

What it matters what it can do, if the sound is same. It can be "super cool, so so unique and best ever made pulse generating synth", but in the end, the sound is still the same. You can sell it as much as you want, but don't get mad, if "some people" stil have their ears (and brains) and they don't fall on your marketing hype and selling attemps.

Well, it appears that some of us have become jaded and cynical about everything soundwise. :hihi:

It must therefore have a radically different sound or it is just another synth in a glutted market.... :hihi:

Just had a look at your profile and i think it's funny that it's mostly Diva fans that attack me in such threads related to Tone2 products.
I was one of the first Diva users/customers and made a bunch of free presets for the factory sounds (in 3rd party folder). Anyway this does not mean that with all due respect Diva or any other synth is the "holy grail of synthesis" for me.

Ingo
I don't know how you came up with that ... a FAN ??
A (soft)synth is not more than a tool to me and Diva is one of them.

I'm always looking for new sounds to use in my records and had high expectations when I saw the Rayblaster teaser.
Unfortunately I couldn't find a single preset that inspired me and after tweaking and playing with all given parameters for some time I still couldn't find any sound that pleased my ears or that I never heard before.
In fact I was instantly turned off by that "signature sound" I remembered from previous Tone2 Demos.

You can question people's understanding of what this synth is all about , but what exactly makes Rayblaster so complex
and/or what does that complexity add to the final sound ?

I'm not attacking you , I'm just asking if you could show me some examples of groundbreaking , mindblowing sounds that are impossible to generate with other plug ins out...

Wait, so you're saying the guy who was making a lot of the presets for this and other Tone2 products, and whose business plan involves the selling of products he is making presets for should not hype "his" plugins? That would be kind of like expecting the guy who sells oranges on the market to remain silent and bury his market stand in the sternmost row, so it just can't be seen.

Seriously, this thread is more and more turning into some spoiled kids shoulder to cry on. Also shown by the ignorant "I don't even wanna know how this synth works, i demo'd it for 5 minutes and it sucks!" posts. Why don't you just stay out of here and don't buy the synth if you don't like it? That's the way to show your lack of interest, not by derailing this thread.

There is no simple answer to this but i more or less explained that since this thread started, even with a few repeats. Maybe at some point i will compile all taht information into a kind of "tutorial".
For the start you could have a look at the manual as i already proposed or take the time to check my posts at this thread... :)

Just a few comments: The complexity of Rayblaster is not really about the interface which is quite straightforward and not that difficult to learn if you take a little time and have a look at the manual.
The complexity is more about what is possible with those features which is not really fully explored yet and an ongoing precess also for me.
That whole wavetable scanning thing was just a result of exploring what is possible with this synth and this was not planned. Without having started to use DNR Wave Designer for doing my own waveforms this would maybe have never happened (at least not now).
The other thing is the import of filter responses. I have created waveforms from several different synths and filter types and the results are really different, even for comparable filter types.
Then you add the ability to modulate most of the oscillator parameters including e.g. Formant, harmonic and start phase and you'll maybe get a little idea about what i like on that synth.

this synth looks very promising, i think this can really shine when combined with traditional sounds. anyway the demo limitations are SO annoying :? so annoying i uninstalled it after 20 mins or so... but maybe i will arm myself with endless patience and demo it once again.

YOUVE UNEARTHED A TROLL NEST!!!!

Seriously, this is ridiculous guys.

oh, edit:
The 'new' bits on this synth have been painfully explained more than once in this thread.
It is just ridiculous to read multiple posts asking where the 'all new sounds are' with a wink-wink, while feigning total ignorance to the presence and purpose of advertising.

I wasnt involved in that either. Whats your point?

It sounds like he is searching for an excuse for your posts in this thread.

In agreement with other beta testers i decided it makes no sense to start another flame war which is why i removed my comment here which could maybe lead into derailing this thread.

I will also try to edit a few of my other posts here, at least those which have not been quoted.

That's to keep the discussion on track and also to prevent another lock (at least i don't want to be the reason for a lock...).

No, it seems these guys like receiving E-mails

I don't get it either, why can't they just announce the rebate for existing customers on the website.

If they are going to answer every customer in separate E-mails, it's gonna be a lot of work for them
A quote from Markus which was posted today:
"I will discuss with Bastiaan how we can reward faithful customers today.

In general we try to keep the price of our software as stable as possible, because larger disounts annoy customers who paid the full price for the product."

This seems to be more less the same that Urs already stated about prices of his products. I know that there was a discount for Diva but that was likely due to the fact that Diva was finally optimized in a quite long public beta.

There seems to be a bunch of useful information in the public Rayblaster forum already:

http://www.tone2.org/forum/index.php?board=30.0

This should offer useful informations especially for people who lost track in this thread.

Well ... had some extra time ...smoked a nice one and tried the demo again.

This time initialized the synth, turned off the psychoacoustic boost and fx ( I think responsible for that signature sound) , loaded my own synth waves and then ran it through some 3rd party fx... and DAMN ! Got some VERY nice evolving drones, atmospheres, pads and other cinematic sounds ! Still wasn't impressed by the other types of sounds I got out of it but the other stuff was GREAT ! 8)

I take my words back .... it's definately not like previous tone 2 synths , but man, those presets really don't do it justice
AT ALL !

Hi,

nice to hear that someone started using it from scratch and got some nice results. This was basically the same situation i had with most of the Beta versions which mostly included some tutorial presets and some other presets by Markus.

Of course my opinion towards the presets is a bit different as i was involved with them but it is a matter of taste and difficult to argue about.

Anyway i could promise that more presets will come soon. Like already mentioned one of the upcoming sondsets will be focused on pads/atmospheres which IMo is the strength of Rayblaster.
