Look at what the original creators did with it themselves:Ashe37 wrote:Please ignore what the actual thing looks like...fmr wrote:Sorry, but I agree with others. I think I stated my reasons several time by now.Brian @ IK Multimedia wrote:And just as you could choose to stick with AmpliTube 2 over AmpliTube 3 CS, you can stick with T-RackS 3 over T-Racks CS. However, the T-RackS Custom Shop is going to continue to grow, just as the AmpliTube Custom Shop has, so why fight it?
My studio rig is currently fairly "wiped" so to say, so I can test the equivalent of T-Racks 3's Custom Shop (this would be Deluxe CS for me), just to see what's going on, if I really have independent DLLs or just "one" like with AT3. Then again, AT3 is a closed system and the modules are "part" of the Amp system. Apples and Oranges.
Still, I'd love to see a more "clean cut" SSL GUI. The other thread here on KVR already offers great approaches (cut the colors of the knobs, reduced the fade), so why not go for it. Easier on the eyes even.
And... I wait for an upgrade/crossgrade patch from CSR Hall to CSR full. But as long as the Custom Shop Credit System is existing, and not a regular way to pay you, I'm actually not(!) interested in spending any money.
Unless you say "put the stuff into your shopping cart, and pay with PayPal/Credit Card as equivalent to the GearCredits" (example: 70 GearCredits would be like fictional 50 bucks, instead of getting 80 credits for 64bucks where you will never ever use up the remaining 10 credits).
This is just illogical to me. But it's how IK Multimedia wants to do things.

Is there any difference between the 3.5 plugs from T-Racks Deluxe and the new ones? (not black, or white - but the Pulteq, 670 etc).Your previous T-RackS 3 Deluxe plugins are there for continuity. Projects that use T-RackS 3 plugins will continue to use T-RackS 3.
I don't care if there is a difference or not - I'm just curious. I guess Theo's oversampling latency problem is fixed - so maybe they're a little different?
PS - IMHO this whole "shell" and "T-Racks Shop" thing is just a nuisance. It would be a lot easier if we could just buy and download the individual plugins - with the "wrapper" available if you really want to use it (does anybody use this?) Bundles are fine - but this system seems to only confuse everyone and lead to literally thousands of permutations of who qualifies for what. It seems like it could be a whole lot simpler.

i tried looking for information on the new plugins as a Deluxe owner, but i felt finding out more about the new additions was a little too hard. could someone list what the new plugins are and briefly describe their purpose?

T-Racks Deluxe is my fav IKM product. I know that somewhere in this thread this must have been answered but I would appreciate a brief summary: what do I have to do to move to the CS version? What do I get as a Deluxe owner?
What you will get as a Deluxe owner is the new 4.0 versions of all the Deluxe processors, plus any others that you may also own (including CSR if you have it already.)
It will also get you an introductory upgrade price (valid until January 7, 2013) to T-RackS Grand, which includes the whole shebang for $99.99 / €79,99, which is $300 off.

@Brian, Peter, ObiK and all folks at IK: I know there's been quite a bit of criticism here once again, and I, too, have been ranting about e.g. the UI of the channel strip.
But let me say one more thing: I very much appreciate seeing new Windows software coming from IK.
Hopefully we see a lot of good stuff in the future.

I should clarify, T-RackS CS Grand does NOT include CSR. The best way to add it to T-RackS CS is the old fashioned way for $99.
The best path to get all of the models if you don't own any T-RackS models yet is to buy CSR first, then take advantage of the Launch Special introductory upgrade price of $149.99 / €119,99.
And no, there will not likely be an upgrade path from the free CSR Hall we gave away once or twice in a promotion.

Okay, I just installed the new "Custom Shop" of T-Racks.
As used to from AT Custom Shop, the routine is:
- install (though I hate that it constantly bugs me to install Quicktime)
- activate (thankfully, the manager is bundled)
- run
What this thing kind of did right from the start was offering my all my purchased T-Racks plugin - but in the shell, er I mean rack only. Funny enough, CSR is now a part of the T-Racks suite. But then again, you have to start somewhere to unify this.
My plugins were still missing individually. So in order to get them back, I had to log into into the Custom Shop (which is still a IE window btw, boo!), go to "My Account" and "Restore my Gear", hit yes - wait a couple of seconds. Done. At first I thought "man, does that crap system need to load the files again?". Thankfully not.
Now on to the negative thing:
You pretty much install EVERY T-Racks plugin that's available with the Custom Shop upgrade. So in order to get new modules, you need to download the whole pack with 180MB, over and over. If I understood it right, the time you hit "restore", the files are unpacked from the "PAK.pak" file (which eats 320MB on my HDD, plus the extracted files which makes it around 580MB over here).
The plugins are all individually stored in the IKM installation folder. Side by side: RTAS, VST x86/x64. The only thing that the installation does, or the gear restore, is to create DLL's that link to these files. So called wrappers, others call it shell.
BUT... they are not called like old T-Racks, they are called T-Racks CS <name of the plugin>. So old projects will not find the plugin. At least it didn't on my end. So please keep that in mind.
This also opens doors for not legit means, but then again, you have everything already and just need to "activate" it. Two sides of the medal.
Still a couple of complaints or better said FR's:
1) finally insert a sort/search function in the Custom Shop, or a specific sub menu for "modules" that are 5 credits or free. An enhanced search function would do the trick. This way users can easily see promotions or free stuff, or "decent prices" stuff if you dropped prices (happens once in a while)
2) Offer a reasonable priced upgrade pack for CSR
3) Extend the demo time. 48 hours are too short. If you're on a large scale project and/or a timer, this doesn't work. Usual test periods are 7 days to 14 days. Your users will still get the module if it's any good or not. But the testers need time to find out if it's really working for them. Or go the Solid State Logic (or was it Sonnox?) route: test 14 days, if you want to retest, block testing for 1,5 months, then offer another 7 days, then block for another 1,5 months again, final test period - no extentions.
4) Please(!!!!) redo the skin for the SSL4k "black and brown". Less colors, or more close to the actual hardware, and maybe a BG change on the "B" button press to represent at which board you are currently.
5) fire your video presentator. I felt like I'm on a constant car chase. All that was missing, was the epic trailer voice guy saying "now airing at a theatre near you"
6) reintroduce(!!!) payment with real money instead of Gear Credits.
Else... this thing is working. So far no crashes or slowdowns - then again, I only scratched the surface. Don't know if I want to go any further though. Glad that I can roll back any time.
