Did anyone else try the SSL channel strip? This one's my first exposure to SSL, modeled and physical (I live in the box), and I gotta say, so far I'm in love with the thing. Wondering how others might compare it to other SSL emulations. For $50 with jam points, can't complain about the price!

Thought about the grand channel upgrade... Would have bought it, had I been allowed to use jam points. Otherwise, couldn't justify it, since I have all the major plugs either as singles, or as alternate implementations from competitors.

I'll repost my message here because in the other thread people don't want to talk with IK multimedia, they want only bash them...so...

IK, help me to understand...i have only two singles (White2A and Black76 singles, no T-racks): how can i have them upgraded to the latest version without have to use them in the new T-racks CS shell (that sucks a lot of RAM btw...)?

I'll try to explain better...I have downloaded T-racks CS and in it i can use the updated version of White2A and Black76 (that i like really a lot more than the older btw)...but outside of the hated shell, using them as singles their version is still 3.5.1 and on my user area on th IK website there is no update for my singles...so? :?

Open the T-Racks Custom Shop. Log in. Click the option to "Restore My Gear." That will download the standalone VST plugins for Black76 and White2A.

Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: these plugins should have been a replacement for the existing 32-bit versions. Now, when I open an old project, I either have to keep the 32-bit version installed for whenever I may need to recall an old project, or I'll have to somehow find every project I used CSR on and replace it manually and resave.

When doing a simple port from 32 to 64-bit, the transition should be seamless for the user IMO. Disappointed they chose to handle it this way.
Ummmm........ :hihi:
I realized that a few minutes after posting. Was hoping no one would notice.

Now I spent some time comparing 1176 plugins last night between IK and the new UAD versions...the 1176 Collection plugs really compress way sooner and more than the IK versions. Example: to get 3-5db reduction on the IK version on this vocal, the input knob needed to be set to 3-4 o'clock, on the UA versions, I was getting that same level of compression at around 7 o'clock. This also equates to a lot more possible compression from UA than would otherwise be possible in the IK versions. I also like how the UA versions have multiple button modes other than "All" (example 4:1+8:1).

At times though, I really liked what the old 1176 was doing. It's a great sounding transparent 1176, which no one else has. Anyway, I ended up buying the UAD Collection last night. Had wanted it for a while and I really preferred what it does to any of the more colorful native options.

EDIT - I didn't see VitaminD's post above but I'll keep this one here too:

Your old T-RackS plugins will still remain after the upgrade. The best way to ensure you have all the new ones available as "Singles" in your DAW is to open Custom Shop, and use the "Restore My Gear" function. Once you do that, open your DAW and try. Note that they will be listed in addition to the previous versions so you might miss them (some have).

The shell shouldn't take a lot of RAM, you can report this to Tech Support to see if you are in the normal range of RAM consumption or not. http://www.ikmultimedia.com/support

The 'Custom Shop\Gear\Not purchased' menu item (for both AmpliTube and T-Racks) is extremely helpful. Thanks IKMM. :tu:

Oops ... Not sounds related. My apologies!

You're welcome. A little birdie told me that a slight change to the purchase flow has been made - you click "Buy" on a product (works in either T-RackS or AmpliTube Custom Shop tabs) and once you are done and click "Continue Shopping" you return to where you WERE not the front page of the respective Custom Shop.

Well, I don't want to make any waves here, so I'll just stick to how the British Channel sounds... It doesn't sound overly harsh, metallic, or ringy. It's just smooth and musical, and totally nails the legendary sound it's going for. 8)

I actually think that was unintentional, but his intentional hints about our own stuff tend to be missed completely... he dropped a really good one recently that flew right by.

Any more feedback on the Quad Processors and British Channel?

I'll still demo them myself but I''m curious to hear more feedback before upgrading my Deluxe to Grand :).

I really need to get into the Quads, but the British Channel

Looks like a cartoon, sounds like a serious unit. The EQ can get lots of tone and air. It's very precise and round, with an underlying aggression. Good for just about anything lacking colour.

The compressor section is awesome. Haven't dwelt on the gate, but the compressor alone has some serious attitude. I could use this all over the place.

A very worthy addition I'd say. I'd even say one of the best in the T-RackS lineup.

Now I need to get into those quads...

Oh, I saw it... I saw it... damned if I can crack the code this time though. There's something about that wording. I guess 3 out of 4 good guesses this year isn't too bad. Maybe it will dawn on me while I dream.
