Not to pee on anybody's turf - developing and testing takes time and they all have their right of existence. But I'd love to see the exact results for all over entrants as well, even if the plugins are in order already.

I have a feeling that this time, there were a lot of follower votes that completely disregarded the quality of the DC2012 entries. While I don't say that VoS or vladg/TokyoDawn don't deserve it (they definitely do!), I would still love to have a slight overview. Because there were ton if great entries this year. Far better ones than the last years. So I kind of expected a close call - not a "twice as much votes" winner to be honest.

This fear is also confirmed a bit by the order of the plugins. For example Space 360 is a very good concept that worked right off the bat - and I hope to see that one being continued. But even if it's among the top 10, it's the last of the 10. On the other hand, Philteroid was full of bugs, hard to control and scored place 5.

Then Modulok is placed far lower than the "BEAT Black Mamba", which caused a huge controvery on it's release if the "BEAT" player was really needed. Same with the spectrum analyer (that needed the MAX Runtime), which is far higher scored (even if it ran for only half of the users) compared to the 3D analyser.

It's not as understandable to me this year compared to the last years entries. Sorry.

This clearly shows that we need new rules for 2013. At least IMO.

Oh and... when are the winners drawn for voting and donating, and how is that shared? Can winners choose from the loot?

if we were doing this for the benefit of developers, voters would respond to each entry with selections like "didn't try/wouldn't load/1/2/3/4/5" to make a complete vote.

the dc is about creating an event, attentions may be negotiated in a variety of manners, by a variety of sources, for a variety of intentions. we have been offered a prize which clearly delineates success and permitted, expected to vote for ourselves!

this is the tradition that is being established!
you come and go, you come and go. amitabha neither a follower nor a leader be tagore "where roads are made i lose my way" where there is certainty, consideration is absent.

Err... so where is the problem to write down:

"we had like 5k votes, out of them, the scores are like..."

You know, Eurovision style, but sans the drama.

I'd like to see the final votes too so I can see exactly how badly I did. My entry was a complete and utter flop finishing in position 35. It would be interesting to see how close it was, maybe Flame was only a handful of votes from finishing higher or maybe Flame is one of the worst VSTs ever in the history of KVR and was tied in last position with everything below it on zero votes for all I know?

Whatever the final vote score congratulations to the winners and to everybody else involved in the competition :)

Also, thanks to everyone who gave voted and commented as it is great to get feedback, even if the general consensus from the voting is that my plugin is a load of rubbish, ah well at least I will use Flame even if nobody else likes it :hihi:

It seems a few people have this beautifully straight mentality still, so we can only speculate in the myst as usual. :) :D

+1
Although, with users only getting five slots, looking at the full vote count still leaves a very very muddy picture. Itll sort out the top ten maybe, but the bottom ten are still kind of wondering a little, even with possibly zero votes.
It makes the contest simpler with five slots, but it wasnt so simple this year, and with many entries.

Oh +1. I think I read your point.
I was happy to see that Proximity made it to the top ten, let alone top three.
I gotta say that while I think Thrillseeker is a fine piece of kit, I cant see it getting the top spot. 'Twice as many votes' made me cringe tbh...

Yes the order is a bit screwy looking at it.
I think there are a lot of things influencing what hits the top ten, and the bottom ten.
There are stability and gui issues for some people. And some entries, regardless of how well they performed, were just not tools that a majority of users found useful, which obviously influences voting hugely. I think some of the bottom hit that wall.

Tbh, I had Philteroid in the top three though. I didnt find it buggy at all. Hard to control, yeah maybe an understatement. :hihi:

Uh, yeah what you highlight there with Modulok is a shame imo...
Especially with such a hot sample set coming the first year of sample sets being allowed.
The analyzer comparison is interesting though.
The 3d one could be seen as not totally useful. A 'gimmicky' thing, even though it is a bit more than that. The multi analyzer had major legit stumbling blocks to get up to speed, but is maybe more of a groundbreaking thing.
Maybe some people vote 'as if' things ran for them?
I did not get the multi track analyzer running to my satisfaction, but I plan to. I did not give it points either.
Compyfox wrote: It's not as understandable to me this year compared to the last years entries. Sorry.
Thats very much how I feel.
Its easy to see that various things must have influenced it. Some possibly bad influence, some possibly good.

A realist!
Fwiw, I was shocked at your placing, even among the sound generating entries, and not just cuz I am a fan.
Id guess you will have some wishes for 'late votes' coming your way if/when the tweakers get there dirty fingers down into Sifft. :)

I feel pretty bad for a few particular developers this time who obviously had a stroke of genius or put actual research into their plugin but scored relatively low. I'm kind of baffled by the results.

None of the plugins from previous DC events passed the test of time for me but there were at least a few plugins that turned up this year which I'm pretty certain I will stick with for the long haul.

Maybe Ben can post the actual numbers of each entry - in the Dev forum? Or maybe it can be requested per private e-mail per developer? Even if I can just know how many votes I got (per slot) - I'd be happy. 2x 5points is better than 5x 2points, IMO. That info is available - Ben did something similiar in another thread. :help:

Flame was a late discovery. For a long time it resided in my "Broken" folder. I had many items in the "Broken" folder. Flame and FadorYMaster were the last two in there. FadorYMaster was not really broken, I just didn't know how to use it, it's probably a super-useful tool. I should have mentioned right away that Flame was being rejected by Reaper. Eventually, Flame worked in Reaper and I think it is going to be so useful in the long run so I voted it into one of the top 5 too. :)
