Class compliant MIDI controllers-Just dreaming here

I know Apple is strict when it comes to MIDI controllers that do not require drivers and I imagine that there is a reason for such protocol.
Sitting here looking at my Behringer BCR 2000, BCF 2000 and FCB 1010 foot controller, I often wonder what it would be like to be able to use these and other non compliant MIDI controllers on iOS without the dreaded work-a-rounds.
There are a great number of apps that are quite deep and somewhat less intuitive using the touch experience we all love and adore which could be more easily controlled without Apple's rules.
I can think of a number of apps that would benefit from such real-time control that it makes my heart sink just a little bit. Several of us have taken for granted the ease of use (most of the time) of using these controllers in our desktop/laptop DAW's. Yes, it may take away some of the experience of touch devices and the mobility of said apps but I have noticed quite a few app videos using hardware alternatives to making music.
Like the title says, it is all just a dream but I still hope one day that Apple realizes that making music on iOS can be a bigger part of the picture than just games, productivity apps, an so forth.
Perhaps it wouldn't be a bad idea to voice our collective thoughts to Apple. But we all know that we are in the minority and it would probably be a waste of time.
Another Friday night with too much time on my hand and possibly too many adult beverages.
Rock on.

I don't get it...
The FCB1010 is strictly 5 pin MIDI, no USB- it can't even be class compliant OR non class compliant...

Right, I don't quite understand either. We made a MIDI interface for just this reason - iRig MIDI - and it definitely works with any controllers with standard 5-PIN connectors (in fact we really wanted things like the FCB1010 to work with our own AmpliTube selfishly
Of course the apps need to support MIDI and I have to admit even ours have requests for more MIDI support but that hardly seems Apple's fault or anything they are blocking. At least not from an accessory and app developer perspective.
It may, however be cool to have a little more iOS-specific MIDI toolset of some sort though we try to put things like the blinky lights and such on our interface so that you don't have to have that kind of info stealing your screen real estate.

And neither do I
. Like I said, I was just thinking out loud of plug and play devices that I own while enjoying a beverage or three. I do not own a MIDI interface for iOS yet and highly doubt my M-Audio Delta 1010 PCI card would fit
.
It is good to know that I can get an iOS interface for $100 - $200 to get my old devices to work but I am just not ready to bite the bullet.
Please disregard my late night ramblings. I know things will only get better.
Cheers.

Ramble on, I was only confused for a few minutes.
Even went down to hook up my FCB1010 to my iPad to prove it would work, then thought why bother....?
I have an official Apple CCK, and a 5$ USB MIDI interface- there are just too many cool apps to not have SOME way to hook up your iPad to other gear.

Please do explain how you acquired a 5$ USB MIDI interface.
I have the Apple CCK but haven't put it through any good uses yet. Foolishly, I was hoping that I could use my USB 160 GB mobile disc drive that came with Band In A Box as an extra entry of data but alas, that is not feasible.
One would think that the 30 pin connector/photo interface that came with the iPad would be somewhat usable for extra storage space other than photos but I am learning that that is not the case.
Anyway, thanks for not voting me off of the island
. I was so not looking forward to reading this post today after posting late last night. Yes, it is Saturday night and my GF has children duties.
Luckily, I was able to write a song (lyrics and composition) on my front porch this evening (as lame as they may be) without the need of any MIDI interfaces.

People have varying results, as you can see from the reviews, but seems to work fine for me so far....
