Thanks for letting us know. We also have an official IK forum at http://www.ikmultimedia.com/forum where over 38,000 users discuss feature requests and more.

Has anyone else experienced a runtime error when using "restore my plugins"?

Post

One thing I like about the custom shop concept is I can (I believe) restore all my IK plugins in one go, without having to run separate installers or deal with registration for numerous plugins. Along with the plugins that come with my DAWs I really don't need much more and the convenience is great. I just hope IK can fine tune the whole thing to make both themselves and users happy, get over bad decisions of the past and move on.

Yeah, Sampletank needs to find its niche in the shadow of Kontakt, and IMO a custom shop model would be perfect way to go and integrate into the rest of their product line. Just going forward they need to be consistent and really work to make the pricing models coherent and fair. Its not that IK hasn't given great deals in the past, it is that it is almost impossible to know if you are making a good purchase half the time. That makes me a shy shopper. And yeah maybe IK are primarily going for the hobbyist through this business model (exactly where I fit in) but I don't see that as a bad thing, and probably it is where most of the market is anyway.

YEs, I can't get past that on my Win 8 laptop. I submitted a support ticket but have heard nothing. That is a frickin big deal right there and if it were my main DAW I'd be pissed.

A few of us have. Read through the thread and there's a post where I describe two potential solutions.

Can you repost those, searching the thread is rough.

Option 1:
1. When restoring your gear, try manually specifying the folder you want to install the plugins too.

Option 2:
Uninstall T-Racks CS. Reinstall using the "Run As Administrator" option in windows (right click on the icon to do this). Once installed, right click on the Custom Shop icon, click on Properties, then go to the Compatibility tab and click the "Run Program as Administrator" option. Then open the Custom Shop and try the Restore My Gear option then.

Yes. All T-RackS processors have "Singles" versions included.
this must have been mentioned at least a dozen times so far - just in this thread!

Is anybody counting?

Second option worked for me, thanks! Great product support there bro, I hope IK is paying you something.

Rather sadly, niether method works for me. Any suggestions before I begin to feel like a beta tester would be gratefully recieved.

For a new win7 install, if one buys the complete t-racks + b&w + all CS plugins, how much euros is that? I'm not sure if the prices i see are upgrades or new. Not interested in buying credits, just purchase all at once.

Secondly, can a new installment go both on OSX and Win7 working, or do you have to 'restore my gear" back and forth on both machines all the time?
I'll answer in reverse - you can use it on multiple machines just not simultaneously. You won't have to go through restoring gear more than once on both. It is just like installing on each, restoring, then going forward using it as you would normally.

For a completely new purchase, we have new and upgrade pricing set as in the first post. The upgrades are for those that had T-RackS Standard (now called Classic), Deluxe, Singles, or even CSR previously. The new pricing is for a complete install and there are the same levels of T-RackS Classic (was Standard), Deluxe, or Grand. Since you are not interested in using Gear Credits, you wouldn't want to purchase a version of T-RackS then the rest a la carte in Custom Shop. Seems like the best and most economical way to get them all is to purchase T-RackS Grand. More information at http://www.t-racks.com too
Thanks for the information Peter.

Brian @ IK Multimedia wrote:maschinelf, when I wrote my response, your question was one of the primary ones I was responding to. I didn't address you directly because it was meant for general info for anyone else as well.

The salient point I was making was that T-RackS Custom Shop is really an additional free software license that compliments and expands your existing licenses rather than superseding them.

We now sell new T-RackS Custom Shop based packages (Classic, Deluxe, and Grand) in place of the old T-RackS 3 packages. But these are just different ways of selling packages of T-RackS processor licenses. The T-RackS licenses you obtained are still valid in their original T-RackS 3 form, and are also honored in the updated T-RackS Custom Shop free of any upgrade charge.

Purchasing an upgrade package is necessary only to expand what you already have with the full T-RackS CS 16 processors (CSR isn't included.) However, you can purchase the T-RackS CS Grand Upgrade at the special upgrade price, and that will give you all new licenses for all 16 T-RackS CS processors. At that point your T-RackS processor licenses won't be dependent on your existing T-RackS 3 licenses.
Sorry Brian, I think I missed your reply, most sincere apologies.

My question was precisely about what happens if I go for the $99 CS Grand upgrade, specifically regarding rules for resale considering my current T-rackS 3 Deluxe license is an nfr. You said in your reply that once I buy the CS Grand upgrade, I will have 16 completely new licenses. I would assume based on this that these "all-new" licenses should be transferrable, though it remains an assumption and Im looking for confirmation before diving in. I guess I will have to directly contact support about that, unless my question can be answered here or in a PM.
I don't know exactly how selling a T-RackS CS Grand license that was obtained through an upgrade would go. But I can tell you this much - you would not be able to sell the processors individually. If you buy the software as T-TackS CS Grand, then if you sell it, you are selling T-RackS CS Grand. So you would be back where you started - without the new models. But whether or not you could sell it (or whether or not the person you sell it to could use it) is something I will have to get more info on.

I don't know of anything else. Option #2 came from IK tech support, and didn't work for me, so I experimented and tried Option #1, which did work. If neither work for you, I'd tell you to contact IK Tech Support and let them know what you've already tried to do to resolve the issue that didn't work.

When I first installed I right clicked "run as admin" so I suspected something else, Support already contacted. I try somethings later fingers crossed.
Thanks for reply.

As someone who participated in the recent Gear credit promotion,I feel kind of misled,I bought 700 credits partially on the suggestions that both Peter and Brian stated on KVR that there'd be new offerings,so make sure you take advantage of this promotion, now we find upgrading to some of the new products is not even possible via the credits.
To me it now seems like the entire promotion was disingenuous.
Knowing what I know now I wish I had spent less on these now limited use credits so I could purchase what I wanted & i feel somewhat burned.

I have been a long time IK user,I have Sampletank,Sonic Synth2 and Sampletron, none of these can pass validation on a Mac with DP8 32 bit or in DP8 64bit via jBridge as every other plug and soft-synth does without a problem.
I must wait for these to be updated & hope the new Sampletank3 64bit format, will work with DP8.
Even if they do finally work & pass validation with DP8 after months of not being able to use what I payed for,I will have to purchase upgrades ,will not be compensated for months of non compatibility and adding insult to injury,I'm sure these IK credits will not be valid for paying & upgrading IK's broken soft synths.
Did IK bring in Waves management to give them p.r. tips and guidance?
Besides these new convoluted policies, broken Soft-synths & purchasing procedures now IK doesn't even offer tech support via phone anymore.
It's too bad IK used to be a nice accessible company & and now it is starting to feel much different,I wish the IK management team really hears & understands how these new policies are affecting clients,Brian & Peter I hope you can pass this on.
Regards
KG
