@highkoo What I did for electraX for some nice growly basses was make a heavily distorted kick drum, and take a snippet of the waveform and use that. The really deep crazy gabber style kicks made the best waveforms. I havent tried it in RB yet, but should be a similar principal :)
Don't trust those with words of weakness, they are the most aggressive

I am going to say Demo 2 is Diva....whichever one that is, that one is my favourite of the two.

Its amazing that this thread survived and is still a great resource for this new synth.

So now we fight about the 'sheen'. :hihi:
Which, is actually something Tone2 uses to advertise with, uses a certain term for, and have ported out to an fx unit.
Has this thread already considered that the 'psychoacoustic' mojo bullshit whatever it is, is exactly what you are all hearing?
Already mentioned here, bitch - http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... &start=570

this is why people leave kvraudio forums.
what's the big deal? if you like it, use it. if you don't like it, don't use it.
why do people bother posting all this cranky sh*t? go make some music...with the plugins you like.

imagine a forum where threads were about what they're about, and users could discuss features, get help, etc...

Well Ingo keeps hammering this one back in line imo.
Over and over and over and over and over and over.

Cool idea.
"And now, with imaginary filters!", even!
Cool. :tu:
I am going to steal that idea most likely. :hihi:

Could you also describe why this is your choice? Would be interesting to hear.

Ingo
it could be as simple as it is louder :-)

haven't really gotten a chance to listen to it in my studio on the studio monitors.

there is also more low mids seem to be happening, which I like in a solo context, but which would probably though making it harder to mix.

edit:
listened to it with headphones.

there is something alive and dynamic about 2, whereas 1 seems more static....don't know how else to describe it...
I close my eyes and listen to them....and I feel emotion in 2 that I don't get in 1.....

and even if 1 turns out to be diva. I won't change my mind on the emotion part...

but it could also be because 2 seems louder.

ironically I would say to me, 1 sounds more zebra-esque.. and 2 more diva-esque

Ingonator wrote:As already mentioned today i have created waveforms with filter responses of Diva now.
i now tried to recreate one of my presets for Diva with Rayblaster using the proper waveform with the filter response.

Here are two audio demos with the Diva and the Rayblaster presets, with no names so you could guess yourself:

Cosy Jupiter Pad 1 Demo 1

Cosy Jupiter Pad 1 Demo 2

In both cases no external FXs have been added.
This is the first try to replicate the preset so please don't kill me when it's not 100% correct...
The question is more how good is the quality of Rayblaster in comparison to the original synth from the waveform of the filter response.

Ingo
When I play your preset in Diva, I don't hear that ringing.

To me the second one sounds kind of dead. Not sure which is which, but if the second one is Diva I'd be surprised.

The preset in Diva was slightly edited if you talk about the factory preset...

Just removed the resonance which is hardly audible in the Diva preset anyway.
Will try creating the same Rayblaster preset with a little Resonance soon by mixing a second waveform with resonance.

That said, one thing is kind of a thorn-
The combination of the small matrix and no visual feedback on routings can get annoying.

In particular because this synth just begs to be modulated... and because of the different synthesis method, it is not easy to hear what is going on... With a standard subtractive, it is easy to hear that the filter is being modulated. With RB modulating the formant knob can have dramatically different effects from one preset to another. So I think some visual feedback is more important than usual.

I'm getting some intriguing results with the demo. So far my experience is not that RB makes new sounds as such, but that it has complex and musically interesting modulations with some of its fairly unique controls.

One of the things that really hits the cpu are the PW options... for example Tri<PW>Steps can make an otherwise playable sound kill the cpu with just a couple notes...

One quick RB example...
