Are you using the software or the hardware version of the elicenser? I have some software protected this way (by Steinberg and Arturia) and never had problems... well, except that sometimes the dongle wasn't recognized by the system (especially when I had a windows pc), but it was mostly due to the cheap hub I was forced to use and changing usb port was enough. Never had problems of disappearing licenses. Maybe I'm just lucky...

By the way, the big problem of the elicenser is that the plastic case it's not that solid, so you're likely to destroy it if you bring it often with you (if you limit yourself at breaking only the plastic case, then it's not that big problem); ilok building quality is far superior in my view.
And yes, I destroyed an elicenser and had to change it (I've been lucky to move the licenses while it was still working... well, it is still working, but it doesn't look that safe...)

I'm not a fan of copy protection system (they are by definition a problem from an user point of view), but never really had problems with the various system used by the softwares I have... I guess I'm very lucky (in particular no c/r from defunct sofware houses or scammers... untill now, at least!) :|

Politely post something to this effect on their forums. They aren't going to change anything just because one or two people complain, but if enough people say they don't like dongles, Arturia will alter their business model. That's not even a matter of being angry or whatnot, it's just a matter of communicating to a business so they can better fit the majority of their customers' needs. Companies normally pay lots of money for that sort of research.

If they feel that most people don't care or want dongles, they won't change, but making those statistics available to them matters.

I just bought Arturia VCollection3 and elicenser won't let me on. Thinks I have put it on another computer. The company hasn't gotten back to me in 4 days and Guitar Center doesn't take back software. This company BLOWS!!!!!! I will never purchase anything dongle or Arturia oriented again. :x javascript:emoticon(':x')

sorry for your woes. i avoid any software that uses the elicenser or iLok. no dongles. no pace.. none of that crap. it's nonsense.

these days of loads of softsynths that do everything and plenty to choose from at every price point.. well.. there's just no reason to put up with dongles and poorly implemented copy protection.

Have you tried uninstalling eLicenser, shutting down and then reinstalling it? I don't know if this will help but if you haven't done it yet it might be worth a try.

Have you installed any Arturia demos in the past or do you own any of their single plugins? Check that any previous installations of Arturia software are completely removed before installing the Collection.

I think it would be helpful to contact Arturia support and also post a thread on their forum as well. It might be that eLicenser is "seeing" an old demo or single installation and going haywire.

The Lexicon reverb bundles are on sale right now and I was seriously tempted to buy an iLok2 but then I remembered my troubles with eLicenser and took a cold shower. Having said that since I sorted out my initial problem with eLicenser it hasn't played up again. So it is possible to reach some sort of stability eventually.

Just using Elicencer for many years, Ilok1 for some years, and now recently Ilok2 for a new reverb coming : Never had a single problem

You have to install them on a computer, but then all plugs will install in a flash. Also try to plug them always in the same USB port. I prefer it by large to C/R schemes, that I use too btw.

These companies will only stop using dongles when they see themselves losing market. Newtek finally ditched the dongle on the newest version of Lightwave, a desperate act, IMO, that would have better served them and their customers had it been done years ago, before all the time and customer support wasted helping users with the dongles when they weren't working right. That was partially why I gave up on Lightwave myself. With music software, I have several dongles and I fundamentally hate them for being there at all. Legal users shouldn't have to deal with it. Drivers, system services, updates, installation screwups, loss/damage... It's irrelevant to the actual product function. I won't buy anything else with a dongle. I rarely use the products that I have which require them because it's a pain in the ass even when everything works fine. I'm not a pirate. Screw playing games with copy protection.

The pirates don't have problems with e-licensers because they use cracked versions.

Therefore the pirates have an easier-to-use version of the software you just paid gazundas of money not to be able to use.

This thread reminds me why I'm glad I haven't bought any Arturia software (although I was tempted back when they had their spark + V collection deal). But their copy protection always scared me.

To be honest this kind of argument always seems a little like an excuse to use warezed software to me. I know it can be a shitty experience when the copy protection mechanisms fail, i've also been through that a couple of times. But arguing as if "the honest get hassled instead of the pirates" seems a bit weird to me. I would rather argue that the pirates are the reason that the honest people get hassled by stuff like this. It's really a shame that the companies have to think and work out yet another way to prevent their software from getting copied. Of course one should expect that they keep it as issue free as possible, but, you know, the more complicated it has to be, the more can go wrong i guess...

There is no excuse for any copy protection measure to ever get in the way of a legal end-user. Period.

The fact of the matter is that a company like Arturia charges a lot of money for its software and if they notoriously* cannot spend some money on implementing a copy protection that is transparent; or even some customer support** for their current buggy copy protection scheme then they are not professionals.

No they don't. I'm no fan of dongles, but a cursory check through Google shows no hits for the latest versions of the V-collection. The instructions for what few cracks there are seem daunting, and even if I were the type to crack, I'd very likely pass on these.

I find using a dongle to be a huge PITA, and I don't think Arturia's synths are worth the hassle, but so far, they seem to remain uncracked.

This has helped me also. I panicked once thinking that my cubase license was gone but it just turned out to be an issue with the eLicenser. It happened after a reinstall to a new system and Cubase installed an old version of the eLicenser which no longer worked with the dongle, for whatever reason.

To second the comment above, I've had no actual problems, e.g. actually lost licenses with the eLicenser. I still prefer it to C/R protection. SN for the win though!
