T-RackS CS - Confusing Installation & Custom Shop

I don't know what is so complicated about installing T-Racks and enabling all the plugins. Run custom shop, login, select "restore my gear" - voila, all the purchased plugins are in the plugins folders and readily accessible via DAW as singles (including x64 CSR and whatnot). tbh, you don't even have to reboot after installation.
my only gripe with it is that custom shop does not distinguish if i have or haven't installed the x86 version of T-Racks. i am long since went x64-only and don't bother to install x86 versions, but T-Racks keeps creeping up somewhere in my program files.

I don't know what to write here that won't be censored, as I can only speak in profanity.

I haven't experienced direct internet connection via Reaper - not yet anyway - so maybe that's been fixed. I agree that IK Multimedia need to simplify the whole installation process so that we don't end up installing unnecessary files. If they stuck to a system that we all become familiar with instead of changing things so often then it wouldn't be so frustrating.V'ger wrote:I'll just quote my post from the Amplitube custom shop thread, doubt much have improved in the new custom shop:This could be the most invasive VST of all time. Not only did it install 10 new dll's in my Windows system directory and folders and files just about everywhere during install + endless registry entries, but loading the VST dll in the DAW and it will actually write cookies (!) in my cookies folder + dll's and other files to system folders and worst of all, wants VIA THE DAW to install a global hook.. Not a global hook from the dll itself, but via the DAW exe. And god knows what else. Hitting buttons like custom shop and icons like '?' would not open a browser, but according to the firewall try to make an out endpoint connection directly.
Actually felt physically clean after uninstalling.
On a more positive note, the plugins sound great so on that basis it was almost worth the frustration...but not completely. I've marked IK Multimedia's term report with a C because there is definitely a lot of irrelevancy and not a clear line of reasoning in their submitted work. I may upgrade that mark depending on whether there is an improvement over the next semester. The conclusion of my report is that much more clarity and consistency is required for this work to achieve a higher mark in the future.

Sometimes KVR really amazes me. OP, it's not that difficult. Install Custom Shop and hit "Restore My Gear." If you don't need to install QuickTime again or update the Authorization Manager, just tell it not to. It's not freaking rocket science, and it certainly doesn't require a whole new "IK Sucks because of so-and-so" thread.
And "intrusive"? You either don't know what that word means, or are just plain desperate to try to start a big IK hate-fest, because there is nothing "intrusive" at all about installing Custom Shop. Implying that it is installing stuff that you don't know about is just plain stupid--someone who doesn't know better might come along, think you actually know what you're talking about, read this thread, and think IK is spreading adware/malware because of those kinds of unfounded statements.
If you're going to start a thread complaining about this or that, at least know what you're talking about. This is just FUD.

Yes, the offline authorization process is explained in the Authorization Manager manual.manducator wrote:Is it possible to install the new T-Racks on a pc that's not connected to internet?

I knew it wouldn't be long before the inevitable "don't be so dumb" troll would post. FYI, it isn't clear otherwise why would I and others post threads complaining about this? If it was clear then no one would have a problem would they?sockofgold wrote:Sometimes KVR really amazes me. OP, it's not that difficult. Install Custom Shop and hit "Restore My Gear." wouldnt it be better to post this in the IK section of the forum? why would this thread interest non IK software users? It just seems like people are going out of their way to embarrass IK.

There does seem to be a little mob interia building up based on the 'new ways'. I'm a IK plug(s) owner and due to other sales haven't yet tried the new installs. But - if you notice IK has been in the forum headlines for a while now - nice side-affectoverhishead wrote:...It just seems like people are going out of their way to embarrass IK.
The new stuff does remind me a little of the Waves installs in which if you don't tell it to keep your current plugs it will erase them (the installer doesn't say that), can't say for sure that's what's going on with the new TRackS, I haven't tried it yet but I have been reading the threads waiting for my big day! Coming soon...with all of the help in these threads I should be able to do it correctly.

T-RackS Custom Shop will NOT remove previous plugins you may have from T-RackS 3. Just to make sure that is clear.kylen wrote: The new stuff does remind me a little of the Waves installs in which if you don't tell it to keep your current plugs it will erase them (the installer doesn't say that), can't say for sure that's what's going on with the new TRackS, I haven't tried it yet but I have been reading the threads waiting for my big day! It's been a good day for me so far but I have to agree with sockofgold. I have never seen so much whinging on KVR before!munchkin wrote:I knew it wouldn't be long before the inevitable "don't be so dumb" troll would post. If anybody bothered to read just a few pages of any of the many threads running now they would find all their questions answered, repeatedly, by Peter and Brian.
So much mental energy wasted. Amazing.

I'm quite happy with CS (even with the duplicated versions of the Meter bridge and Classic EQ).
However, I de-selected 'Install Standalone' as I have no need for it. The installer installed it anyway and insisted on installing QuickTime.
It also seems to have broken the activations for my CSR so older projects open with CSR in demo mode with the annoying noise burst.
Just thought that's worth pointing out.

T-RackS Custom Shop should be in your User Area (as well as the AT 3.9.1 update for you) and you can install that and go from there.bill45 wrote:Is there a separate custum shop update? Yeah... I'm with the whole "seriously? it's not that @#%^ hard, man" crowd here. The information is mentioned repeatedly in other threads and there are manuals which cover this stuff. Make use of the tools at hand before you start whining to the one's giving them to you. All of this same crap over and over by folks incapable of reading is getting in the way of any real issues that may need to be addressed.
...but I did feel a little violated after I installed the software... a little sore and all that. They didn't even leave money on the bed for me to take a taxi home afterwards!!

So now we must read threads on KVR and the manual BEFORE installing plugins. And there was me thinking the onus was on the developer to make the installation process transparent. And if they change how the plugins work there's no need to explain this beforehand because its up to me to do all the research. IK Multimedia is truly stuffed if posting my frustrations about an installer in the FX section brings out the fanboys who feel the need to make offensive comments in their defense.Kontrast13 wrote:Yeah... Smart arse comments like yours really are ruining a once friendly and helpful forum. Next time you have a software problem just PM me and I'll be happy to help in kind.
