I have my doubts that it "insisted" on installing Quicktime. I've been installing IK stuff for years with the "such and such software requires Quicktime. Should we install Quicktime?" dialog box coming up. I tell it no, and it doesn't install it. I have always gotten a yes or no choice to install Quicktime. I've always selected "no" with no ill effects.

In my case the installer didn't insist on installing QT but how did you know whether it was necessary or not? I've got nearly all their plugins and I've never been asked to install QuickTime apart from this installation. I also have the latest version of QT installed so I'd expect the installer to recognise this. The question is why doesn't it? I suppose the obvious question is why would an audio plugin EVER need QT which begs the question why include it in the installer?

I told it 'No' and it went no further. Tried again, same thing, so I just let it install it.

Not a biggie, as it didn't 'break' QuickTime or anything. Just thought it might be something worth looking at.

Also, I de-selected 'install standalone version' but the installer says - QT required for standalone, install Yes or No'. Why is it installing features not requested by the previous routine?

Windows 8 Pro btw.

I don't know... I could swear that if I had an issue while installing or any issues after installing... the manual is the first place you're supposed to look.

I'm sorry if I offended you. I'm very self-centered and cannot begin to see the perspective of others. I am a terrible human being for suggesting that one should make use of the tools provided to give answers to these exact same questions that come with the software before asking another person. Pardon my error.

I don't understand why I need TWO  I should have one custom shop browser and it should handle all of my needs.

Again with the smart arse comments. Try Gear Sluts where that arrogant and elitist attitude is appreciated. Do us all a favour stay clear of new KVR members we don't want to frighten them away.

Oh come on now, we do that anyways :D

I did recently, didn't mean to. Someone posted a link with an obscure title and I asked if it was spam. Poor guy.

There IS only one custom shop. You just click on Amplitude or T-racks to swap to the different categories. I checked my program list and there's only one listed (unless I'm missing what you're saying).

As for the Quicktime thing, I just noticed in the dialog that "some" projects may need it, and I figured that if I ever needed it, the software would let me know. I haven't needed it so far. They've had this Quicktime stuff in the Amplitube and T-racks installers at least since v. 3 for these. I always tell it no, because Quicktime will never be on any of my computers. I find it way too intrusive, always needing updates, etc.

I've installed T-racks and Amplitube on Vista and Windows 7. I haven't tried it on Windows 8, but I'd be surprised if it were different.

Just installed Lightwave. I do 3D work for video's I've created and have used Blender in the past. I didn't need to RTFM or Newtek's forum to install Lightwave, it didn't ask me to install QT, Windows Media Player or some other audio or video player and the registration process was clearly explained on opening Lightwave. That's how it should be and usually is done.

It keeps asking me to install t racks 4.0 thingy. So you install that and then just use the one browser? More complex than it should be.

You also get the merged Custom Shop updated with AmpliTube 3.9.1 available in your User Area.

Release Notes:
Changes from version 3.9:

- New Custom Shop (ver. 1.1)
- Fixes an issue with MIDI Program Changes
- General reliability improvements
Obviously if you want to try or buy T-RackS Custom Shop gear you'll need the latest version of that too.

Basically, it's just an update to the Custom Shop. It's not that complex (conceptually at least).

Apart from the installation confusion, as I have already stated, I really like IK products and own nearly all of them. CSR is my favourite reverb. This is the first time I've found the IK installation/registration process confusing.

I would like to see separate installers for Custum shop and authorization manager, updates.Sometimes even after installing the autherization manager update, it still asks to be updated

they *are* separate.
I don't know what to write here that won't be censored, as I can only speak in profanity.
