I managed to withstand the lure of the MPressor. Yes! I demoed it against Alloy and DC8C, and didn't hear enough of a difference to pull the trigger. In fact, it kinda reminded me of how good the compressor in Alloy actually is, especially when combined judiciously with the transient enhancer and the exciter.
Bring on the TwinTube already, Alliance!

You mean that DSM V2 thingy? The description really had me confused! I didn't even demo it... but maybe I should while there's still time.

Whatever you do, don't load an instance on your master. Then do not capture. Then DO NOT lower the threshold and engage the limiter. Do NOT increase the gain. Failure to follow my instructions will lead to a purchase.ariston wrote:You mean that DSM V2 thingy? The description really had me confused! Btw, it can be used nicely on individual tracks. You can take drums to a sick level and they sound great (listen to those examples I have) and it can be limited so you are not pushing the output. It's not weird or squashed or crappy like so many limiters.

Just saw a bit of the video... now I get what it does, and it sounds intriguing. Will definitely demo later. Seems like a very original and forward-thinking take on compression/limiting.

I believe DSM is an FFT type frequency domain compressor as opposed to the more common (?) time domain compressors I'm familiar with. Think API2500 vs Soniformer - somebody pls correct this. I don't speak DSP (obviously!).
Anyway I'm waiting for another pass from development on it - maybe beef up some features, etc. I didn't demo it for that reason hibiddy...
mpressor I passed on cause I already got the Alpha and mini-alpha even though the hardware are 2 different beasts I'm guessing the software are still software comps - almost there are we (?)
Waiting fot the TTtttttttuuuuuuuuuubbbbbbbbbeeeeeeessssssss...maybe...
I really like the bass compressor on the SPL Vitalizer though, along with PSP MixBass helps my repair work (probably not needed on good masters which I don't ever see

Well, I'm in like Flynn. I've never used anything, ever, that does what this does. In exaggerated uses (like the drum clip I posted) it works great. I don't usually like extremes like that but it's nice to know it works. I like subtle but then again I'm learning that I don't know shitkylen wrote:

So I think I'm done finally. There isn't anything else I want OR need. The xl was interesting, but I just HATED it in use.
Maybe this little "boom" thing if it's like 20 bucks. It's not bad, but I think it has a tendency to eat up too much of that frequency range thus just thinking it's best to eq
Everything else doesn't matter. Twin Tube? Maybe.

It's just a stupid clip where I have the effect on/off. The point of it is how extreme it is. I can't think of a situation where I'd need that, it's just to show. The other one a page or two back has a little quick thing I threw together but with the effect used correctly, I think the one with effect sounds much better.......ymmv.
