But... This is without a doubt, my favorite algoVerb and I'd love to have a surround version. Is it possible to use VhRoom in 5.1 or is there a surround version in the works?

Not really in the works, but I have thought about it in the past.

I'm not sure how I would convert VRoom to be full on 5.1 in, 5.1 out. 2-in, 4-out would be trivial. Converting the 4 outs to 5.1 out would be pretty simple as well. "Trivial" and "simple" refers to the concepts behind the multi-channel expansion. The actual work would take a while, and I'd have to figure out how to create plugins in the various formats that work with different input/output channel configurations.

If you ever get the itch, I'm sure a 5.1 version would be well received. I know that I'd get one. A few friends would jump on it too.

Curious... Any info or tips for using VhRoom as dual-stereo verbs? Obviously experiment... just curious if there were any tricks regarding configuring the controls to create an accurate surround-like space.

I've had some people express interest in the stereo in / multiout versions. It would be limited to musical applications, but that might be useful to folks working on movie soundtracks (I've had a few).

Curious... Any info or tips for using VhRoom as dual-stereo verbs? Obviously experiment... just curious if there were any tricks regarding configuring the controls to create an accurate surround-like space.

A few tips for using VRoom in a dual stereo version:

- Set the DEPTH of the rear channels to 100%, no matter what the depth of the front channels is set to. You want pure diffusion in the rear channels, without early reflections.

- Or, ignore the above, but use a larger Early Size for the rear channels, to suggest later reflections from the back of whatever space things are in.

- Using a larger value of Early Size for the rear channels, and setting Early Send to max, will create a slower attack for the rear channels, which will simulate the slower build of reverb at the back of a space.

- You may wish to set HighCut to a lower value for the rear channels, to simulate the extra filtering of the sound by the air (since it has to travel more distance), as well as the effects of head shadowing.

- The Late Size should be somewhat larger for the rear channels than the front, even if it is only 1 or 2 percent larger. This will create more of a sense of decorrelation & spaciousness.

= The LowMult could be set somewhat higher in the rear, to add more envelopment to the sound.

- Try turning up the Late Mod Depth to the rear channels as well, to help separate the sound from the front channels.

- Late Cross should be set to max for the rear channels. You may want to experiment with swapping the left/right of the send to the late channels, just to get some interesting cross reflections.

The above tips should work for all sorts of reverbs, not just ValhallaRoom. You want less early reflections in the rear channels, a slower attack to the reverb, a larger Size to increase the decorrelation, less high frequencies, and whatever else would suggest a "deeper" space.

Hi Sean. Just purchased V Room recently, and am quite impressed.

I too would like to see a multi out version, Indeed, for film music production. A 5.1 version would be fun, however, I wouldn't expect that of you due to the effort and the small amount of users.....

A multi output version combined with your very excellent tips would be fine, id think it wouldn't be a huge amount of work to implement?

It would save us having to run 3 x instances over 3 Aux's in logic. Our team run about 5 -8 surround or multi out reverbs as part of our template, so you can imaging how this adds up.
