I found the link.
I've tried to download this 4 times now. Every time it gets to about 16mb the download gets cut off.
I tried Mozilla Firebird and it said the download was complete even though there was only 16mb in the file.

I tried Opera the other 3 times. Everytime it gets to about 16mb the download starts again at zero.

What's up?

The original "Splendid Grand" came from the Akai ftp site. Actually, some people may not know that Akai offered two versions of the 256 MB Splendid Grand. One was named Grand Piano 256M, and the other was named Grand Piano Off Mic. Does anyone know which one was used for the soundfont conversion?

I can't remember for sure what the "off mic" bit referred to, but I think it had something to do with picking up a bit more "extraneous" sounds, like the hammer action itself, and perhaps a bit of room resonance. Does anyone remember what the exact difference between the two Splendid Grands is?

Right now, I'm thinking what it might be like to combine both these sample sets into a huge 512 MB, sfz-format sample set... :D

I didn't know that! My brother originally dl'd the samples from the Akai site, so I never saw the site myself (we converted the program in VSampler).

I guess that's something to keep an eye out for...
