I have iTunes on my computer solely for managing my iPod. Can't stand it otherwise. So bloated, and I'm not a fan of huge GUIs that eat the entire screen.

edit: I think there's a plug-in available for Foobar which adds WASAPI support, allowing Foobar to bypass the Windows mixer and send bit-exact output directly to the DAC. Might be something to think about if you're an audiophile who's into that kind of thing.

I have to agree, but I will also use iTunes sometimes when is convenient.
Also zune comes in handy because I'm a music junkie.
It's a fantastic source to learn about new and old are you say you haven't heard much about.

Anything's better than iTunes, especially the new version (11).

I like QuickTime player for individual files, WinAmp for albums/playlists/video. Really love some WinAmp plugins like this for getting decent sound from wimpy desktop speakers. Can run VSTs with Christian Budde's wrapper but they're sometimes buggy.

I keep hearing good things about FooBar, should check it out.

Im on the same boat. For everyday listening, i choose winamp. I have been using it since version 2 iirc. My prefered version today is 5.02. They started adding a bit more than i felt was necessary, ie: cd ripping, library manager, etc. But i love the hotkeys (ctrl-atl-X keys for controlling the playback while minimized). I also love the search/que functionality of it (press J to search, press Q to enque).

I use the Modern skin, with Good'Ol Winamp color theme, but i mainly use this because the oldschool skin, only has repeat/no repeat, whereas the new skin supports Repeat All, Repeat Current track, or Off. Repeat current track is great when im trying to learn a song, or jamming to some mixdown.

For editing id tags, nothing touches foobar (with some addons).

iTunes 11 + iTunes Match. I like having all my music synced on all the devices. It's very handy to test Logic bounces.

Match is behaving funky lately. Sometimes song playback gets cut. Hope they fix it soon.

However, speaking of "else", there's one more player that is rather convenient and even smaller and also portable called "1by1". http://mpesch3.de1.cc/1by1.html I sometimes use it for previewing sample folders. It's only few hundred KBs and if you download BASS library http://www.un4seen.com/ you can play lots of additional audio formats with it.
