Getting a vocal for my track

Hi,

I'm currently working on a track that would be great with vocals. Now as I never made any vocal tracks I'm interested in ways of findng vocalists.

For example, are there any websites where you can post your track and if a vocalist likes it, he will write lyrics & sing, then send the vocals back to you (of course after you pay them) or most vocalists record in the studio while you are present.

Can it work simply by contacting a vocalist that you like and asking him/her directly?

Yes, it's simple. Of course it depends on how popular the singer is. Sometimes her management will deal with colaboration deals.

Just write a message to the vocalist you are interested in. If the singer likes the track, it's likely that she/he will get in touch with you.

Also most of the professional singers have their own recording setup. So you'll get your vocal WAV files over the internet.

You may also be interested in entering official remix contests, where you can download and play with professional quality stems (many, admittedly are wet with reverb and delay, which can be troublesome to remix; but I guess that adds to the challenge). One more information, does anyone happen to know the price ranges of voalists?

It depends very much on the reputation, both yours and the singers. Also it depends on how much work it is for the vocalist. Is it just the singing, or also song writing?
However, in most of the cases you'll be in the area of a few hundred euro. I'm not talking about celebrities here.
