Ok, well after considerable research, reading experimenting and searching, I finally can confirm an issue with Multis in Venom.

I am posting this to try to inform others so you don't have to go threw what I have and others.

After searching I finally found a post by the developer of the Vyzex editing software (posted a year ago):

Altair,

"This is a FIRMWARE issue in Venom. I have no control over Avid to get it fixed.

In the meantime we are looking into ways to work around this firmware problem in an update to the free Vyzex editor, but you have to be understanding that we do need to stay in business too: We have deadlines of our own to meet.

We have your posted problem file and appreciate that you've taken the time to flag the firmware issue that you have - It will be dealt with as best that we can on the software side with whatever countermeasures we can safely employ. Please work around it on your own side in the meantime."

"Hey Tony!!
I was just wondering if you have any news about this problem, maybe figured some solution out??
I created a multi sound, involving two singles, the first is the same lead sound you already know with its arpeggio and the other one is the same thing, except it's a strings sound, like the original song. When i store in the Vyzex editor same problem happens with both of the parts, but in this case i can't store the multi from the Venom front panel, like i can do with the singles.

Please Tony, i really need this thing working right, the days of presentations are getting closer and i need to know if it's ever gonna be fixed or anything."

Thanks in advance! ;)

Support seems to have come to a stand still....

This means that Venom CAN NOT perform all the features as described.

Multis which include any patch that has more then 1 layer may not be stored properly.

This appears to be the current state of affairs, I know we have one of the developers in this thread, please feel free to inform us if this will/can be fixed.

If ANY ONE from Avid, M-Audio or Vyzex would like to respond please do so.

After reading this thread and others at the Vyzex Editor forum I've decided against buying a Venom.

Too bad really, it had potential. But I guess that's the problem with hardware depending on software, OS change, owners of companies change etc and hardware becomes unusable or at least doesn't live to its potential.

Everything (but my mind) is working perfectly here. I'm on 32bit though.
No silent keyes either :)

Do you mean the whole keyboard, this is a glitch fixed by turning off/on. It's happened to me a few times but not alot.

Post

It's working fine for me too....yes, it has problems and limitations but IMHO it was a well spent $200.

I guess it is something I am not willing to deal with... because my computer rarely/never needs to be reset for any reason. :P

The forthcoming VenomEd VSTi has no problems saving multis.

Well the developers site seems to have stopped responding. No post have been made since early November.

I have contacted him directly about this...no response.

I heard that the beta he was working on fixed the problem BUT the last version published was 2 years ago.

I think we're pretty much alone on the whole Venom thing. We shouldn't expect any support I reckon.
On another note; Plenty of free presets for the Venom here:

I haven't checked any of these out though but there must be something worthwhile I suppose.

Forget about the Psicraft Vyzex editor. It's no longer an option.

mkdr is writing his own vsti editor for the Venom called VenomEd. He announced it earlier in this thread.

Hi mkdr

I think http://peerbackers.com/submit-project/step-one/ (http://peerbackers.com/submit-project/step-one/) is the easiest and quickest process for you based in Finland ( I had a quick look at kickstarter.com but they only allows US or UK citizens :x ). Peerbackers FAQ: Can I pay with cash or check? Unfortunately no - payments can only be processed through Payl Pal (but you don't have to have a Pay Pal account - only a valid credit card). (Paypal takes 3%)

mkdr, as soon as you got the project up I urge each and everyone in this thread to donate big! :)

And post donate URL to other site inc. Avid and M-audio support sites.

Happy new year!

mkdr, If you crowdsource with paypal you will become a rich man! :)
Update: Piece by piece getting there :)
I re-wrote some stuff this week to the editor-core(the part that is in MophoEd too) to make sysex decoding faster and improve patch loading times. Also improved the patch loading screen a bit. The responsiveness has been something I've thrived for. Might not seem like much for you guys right now, but really adds up to the whole user experience in the end. So maybe ready for some beta tests soonish..

The crowdsourcing isn't actually a bad idea when i think about it. Not because i'd need the money but because currently i'm doing this as a hobby. Investing my time building these could be better explained to my wife if there are backers :D

Well it wouldn't hurt to know the amount of users beforehand too. I've run into some trouble with MophoEd as i haven't got decent methods to deal with a huge client list. I thought there'd be just a couple dozen...

Hi Everyone,

An 'E' key is dead on the good old keyboard I use for testing purposes on my main "dev desktop".

The Venom sounds appealing :-)

However, unless I forgot to read some posts, I did not find many reviews about its keybed. Could someone tell us how it compares to some classic MIDI keyboards?
Unfortunately, I will not have the opportunity to test it in a shop (noone have it in stock in my local area).
I'm not looking for a piano feel (got a 88 keys for this) and my fingers seems to like E-MU xboards (but my 25 keys is quite short for what I have to do).

If the keybed is good enough, all the rest will then be extra things to have fun with :-)

Many thanks!
