@ sinkmusik. I like your new color set, may I ask how you did this? For me, yours is easier on the eyes. Thanks!
Hi, Thank you.
Yes, i just changed the color tone using a photoshop-alike program.
graywolf2004 wrote:But I was going to implement if not skinning, then at least color schemes. It's in 2nd priority after fixing functional bugs (like the bug with load/save ENV1 reported and I'm currently working on).
Great ! Looking forward to this, thank you for caring.
graywolf2004 wrote:@sinkmusic. I don't personally like the idea of randomizing, cause in my experience it never gives something usable.
Ah, i am always liking plugins featuring randomization, as i sometimes like to randomize a couple of things before editing them to further suit my tastes/needs.
It can give unexpected and inspiring results sometimes, and it can also help thinking "outside my mind", and making choices i wouldn't make by my own.
You're the developer, so i respect your choice, but if it is a popular request, would you accept to think a bit more about it at some point?
graywolf2004 wrote:'Mutate' function is better, but it needs more intelligent approach, taking into account cross-dependence between settings. Let me think more of it.
Regarding switching lanes on and off - maybe it will be better just to create several patterns and switch between them? It's a bit more work, but this way you can create as many pattern variations as you need and it may be not just gradual filling, but any other change. Two thins we miss here to simplify this:
1. "Copy program" between bank slots
2. Program change automation. Say you created 3 variations in slots 5,6,7. You want to use say CC33 to switch variations, then you set low and high valie for program number, and that's it. Or maybe other ideas?
Here again, i don't know, i think it depends on each's workflow : i come from hardware, and got used to "mute knobs" for making things change and evolve, and i have been enjoying it for years, so i'm pretty convinced that a "mute" button would fit my workflow enough, but again it is only my very own opinion ;)

Still no love for Tracktion

Error message for everything after version 6 of BlueArp in T

ENV1
Thanks! The issue with performances was simple - VSTHost requested bank data on plugin load (getChunk) and BlueARP returned empty pointer. It gave a memory error.

Let's postpone randomizing things. I don't say I'll never do this. I'll return to it later. I'm thinking about some kind of intelligent randomize that will give more usable results that just simple randomizing of all settings.

njon6
Please give me more details - which version of Tracktion, windows, etc (32 or 64 bit). Is there a demo/trial version available?
If it worked till 1.06 and stopped working in later releases, I think the issue should be simple.

Post

Yeah, sorry, I should have been more detailed.

Windows XP sp3 32 bit - Tracktion 3 The latest version, I believe it's 3.0.4.8

I'm not sure if a demo is available, I will check.

Hi, Graywolf
It sounds like a perfect plan, thank you !

All I can do is to say "thank you" for this wonderful thing...

It looks like Traction has a demo for download here:

You're welcome. There's also a donation option available ;)

This is another performance in FL Studio.
4 BlueARP's + 4 instances on Sylenth1.

Finally, this one is close to what I was dreaming of 1 year ago when I started to develop BlueARP and digged into the mess of programming...

Good stuff.

I also enjoyed the improv aspect...in fact for quite some time now i find that approach to working with sound infinitely more interesting than trying to create a 'song' by means of lining up elements in the typical static timeline arrangement.

Thanks for sharing. :)

Exactly. I spent quite a lot of time with hardware arrangers and arp's. Although it took more time to program arpeggio or arranger's style, it always payed back. Now with BlueARP I can do the same in FL with software synths. I could never get to the same level of inspiration with "timelines".

This is a quick update - one fix for 2 bugs:
http://www.graywolf2004.net/files/BlueARP_v1.10.1.zip

Changes:
1. Fix for Tracktion 3 ( njon6 , pls check it)
2. Fix for a bug I found myself - after I saved a project in FL with hardware knob mapped to any BlueARP param, FL refused to open the project saying "Fruity Wrapper: Fatal error loading plugin state"

I didn't test it in Tracktion 3 a lot, but at least Fatal Error went away.

Can I suggest a minor UI improvement?

Some of the options could really use a pop-up menu to reveal all the available options, and quickly select the one you want.

e.g. the 'order algorithm', and the 'missing keys'

A downward arrow icon could open the menu, or a typical right-click on the button or the < > buttons should do.

Thanks

You're right, I was thinking about the same thing. I agree it's better to have dropdown list for things like 'missing keys' and 'order'. But not for all - it's impossible say for low/high key selection (127 keys in total - too much).
For the next holiday week, my plan is to write the manual, implement colorschemes + maybe this thing. Also I wanted to experiment with chord recognition, but this thing seems too complex, so I'll just start at best...

Thanks Greywolf, will check and report as soon as possible

+1 too. It's about time more improvisational tools arrive. Bringing arpeggiators and such to the next level are needed for the musician who doesn't want to stare at his daw all the time thinking what to do next. Just play, have fun and be amazed what the software can deliver when treated right.
