I'm sorry, but you all have left me no choice. Apologies to the OP, as well:

Thanks I think that's a good summary. It is an important decision to me as far as my professional purchases go, I can only make so many, yet as time goes on I'll hopefully end up with a small selection of very good reverbs that suite my taste.Michael Carnes wrote:
I've been in the reverb business a long time, and I appreciate the passion that professionals put into their choices. I long ago stopped trying to provide the 'One Reverb'. No matter how dedicated to their Lexicons, most mixers kept an SPX-90 or an Eventide 3000 or a Bricasti (plenty of other choices in here) for that one application that the Lexes just didn't cover. That's just as true in the world of pure software. There are more than a few developers of good stuff (you might be surprised to know that most of us are quite friendly with one another). I'll be quite happy to be just one of the many choices you make.
I think I may be settled on AAR at this point for now as it's very different from anything else I demoed. Looking forward to trying out the Exponential Reverbs in the new year too.

I won't buy any other reverb plugin for now.
I have enough.I didn't even buy the VVV which is nice for its price.
For me nothing beats the UAD reverbs-EMT 150,240 and the Lexicon 224.
I also have the rest of the Valhallas and 2C Audio B2 and Breeze.
And Cubase's reverbs with a fine collection of IR samples.
No more.

You've got to be kidding ?Michael Carnes wrote:Hi folks. I haven't been on the forum for a few days, so this is the first time I ran across this thread. I'd really like to thank you for your interest in my reverbs. It's getting very close to release time (early in January is my plan) and I'll be sure to get an announcement out.
It may take me a couple of extra weeks to get the demo program put together. That's just because there's so much else to do. To answer one question I saw here, demos will require iLok2.

You would need to buy an ilok2 just to try your software ! lol
Fail.

It's been true for all Ilok software I've demoed.BDeep wrote:To be fair, isn't that true for all software that requires ilok?
Please correct me if I'm mistaken here, I don't have an ilok, and never gave it much attention.

I just noticed @ liteon after posting. Please understand that there are quite a few people who won't use ilok, especially not an ilok 2. They ARE going to voice their distaste over it. You can't stop that.

So I realised I'd never demoed AAR on my laptop, so I was able to give it another spin.
It's very pleasant sounding, thats the best way I can describe it, it doesn't sound too real to me, but that's not what I need. I fits synthesizers perfectly if you ask me. It can be really huge and have a long tail without any unpleasant side effects. It's also lively.

LOLyeah! Man, the only reverbs I use any more are Vallhalla Room and Shimmer.hibidy wrote:ilok? iDON'T![]()
I don't even use impulses any more, and I used to LOVE that huge endless reverb module that comes with Reaktor. Maybe I'm just getting old, but those two are really that good, and I'm so glad to have them in my tool kit. Room in particular. I have to use an isolation cabinet for my amp. VRoom saves it.

It's not a case of hating dongles, it's more a case of having to have one to demo something.LiteOn wrote:Please,
no I-hate-dongles crap in this thread!

What's the point of a demo if you still need to purchase a dongle to use it.
And people wonder why things get cracked ???
Demo = dongleLESS
Full Software = Dongle
No problem with that at all.

I love reflektor lately, but it's a HASSLE to use in GR (weird gain staging, not to mention all the hoops of having it as a plug INSIDE a plug.) It's sounds lovely though.AetherCoyl wrote:LOLyeah! Man, the only reverbs I use any more are Vallhalla Room and Shimmer.hibidy wrote:ilok? iDON'T![]()

Anyways, get off topic but back on topic, I guess my ears are just very different because there was nothing about those examples that blew me a away. Not saying there is anything wrong with it.
Anyways, peace out, I'm not going to ever have this because I'm NOT going to get an ilok2 so nothing really to add.
LeVzi, that's true. Dongle hatin' and choosing NOT to use dongles are two different things. I've had an ilok for 100 years and kinda got tired of the pace issues. Maybe ilok 2 is better, but I'm not buying one just to be able to demo a reverb

Hi hibidy,
It's just I don't want this thread to derail ... you know, this is KVR.

I know (was one of those either), and it is ok to state that (though Michael C. won't change his mind).hibidy wrote:Please understand that there are quite a few people who won't use ilok, especially not an ilok 2. They ARE going to voice their distaste over it. You can't stop that.
