Feel like I've been somewhere and seen something after listening to this.

1 - e@rs - Move Fast
I dig the sustained energy.

My votes:

5 pts. - IrionDaRonin - BEC 3
Really nice sounds, very good mix... overall perfect feel imo!

4 pts. - Solidtrax - Don't forget your Bazille for lunch
I dig the style of those guys... great grooving stuff, with lots of details and very nicely crafted sounds!

3 pts. - PocVecem - Qspace
Sweet little melo and nice sounds, mixed with love of detail!! very nice track!

2 pts. - z.prime - beatuy of the electron
a lot going on in this track, too! good attempt on complextro sounds!

1 pt - evo2slo - closer to the sun
heavy thing! i like the composition and the guitarremulation - really well done! i just wish, that you would focus a bit on mastering... on some parts, things get a bit muddy... it's a shame because i really like the way you compose!!

also jasinski did a great job... but i think this time the 5 tracks above are really well done! so, respect to jasinski, too... and of course every other participant!

Keep up the good work and for the first timers: don't get sad, if you get low points or even none! Just try to improve your skills!! 8)

cheers, Bjulin

This was pretty tough voting, so many good entries that cover such a broad spectrum of music.
Any way my votes are going to...

5 points - Solidtrax - Don't forget your Bazille for lunch
This just oozes class, and it's done in one of my most prefered genres of music, the groove and detail here are just fantastic.

4 points - Irion Da ronin - BEC 3, The Last Chance
Again the detail here is superb, just a perfectly balanced mix of lovely sounds. A real pleasure to listen to.

3 Points - Pedalsteeldrummer - Mind Meld
This was really creative imo, I loved the nu-jazz vibe of this and the sound design and mix of all instruments was straight up impressive. good job!

2 points - Z.Prime - Beauty Of The Electron
Now I'll admit electro is not normally one of my prefered style sof music, but I'll give credit where it's due. This has some really stunning sound design and arrangement.

1 Point - evo2slo - Closer to The Sun
Really wish I could give bonus points here for originality. A really diverse range of sounds used throughout and has such a unique style to it. The guitar timbres here are so convincing I'd swear it was a guitarist.

Props to all the contestants, some really fantastic tunes came out of this month's contest and I'll be sure giving many entries a lot of future listens.

cheers - Grant :)

Wow guys, thank you so much, it means a great deal to us that people appreciate our work! We feel honored that you both gave us so many points! 2013 already has a great start for Solidtrax, nobody can take that away from us anymore! :D

So many great tracks to chose from this month, we have a hard time narrowing it down to only 5 tracks!

I was really struck by how good all the mixes sounded this month, some really pro-sounding stuff. Here are my winners:

5 points: Irion Da Ronin - The Last Chance
Thought this was an amazing track. Why it stands out for me is that it takes you on a journey - from the soothing intro to the tasty bass-led main groove with lots of interesting details and effects along the way. Really well done.

4 points: Bjulin - Infected
I felt that this track took a while to get going, but once that spacey riff comes in at about the half-way point I was hooked. Great sequences and melodies. And what a bass drum! Really hits you in the chest. Perfect mix. Liked this a lot.

3 points: Jasinski - Barricades
Although I thought that this track could do with a better hook, the groove and energy here is so strong. In parts this sounded amazing - the various builds and drops along the way really drive this along. Great dance track.

2 points: AdagioCM: A perfect moment
Felt this was a little bit too derivative of Vangelis' work for me to award more points (unless AdagioCM IS Vangelis of course?!), but how brilliantly executed! Wonderful sounds, musicality and relaxing mood, perfectly balanced mix.

1 point: Teezdalien - Truffles
You can tell immediately that this is someone who knows the genre they are working in - very stylish intro. Loved all the unstable resonant filter sounds - very Bazille! Lots of great sound design. One criticism - I thought the drums could be just a bit more upfront in the mix - a minor detail but important in a dance track I think.

There were several other tracks I had in my shortlist but don't have time to mention. Well done to everyone who entered.

Cheers

Hi all,

Last month I had too less time and too less inspiration to finish a track. What I did so far was not good enough, so I gave up. I hope this will be better this month with Voyager!

Here are my votes now:

5 points: PocVecem - Qspace
A wonderfull old shool sounding synth pop song. Good melodies, groove and nice sound fx. A real feel-good song.

4 points: Irion Da Ronin - Beautiful Electronic Creature The Last Chance
Oh man, I realy miss a leading melody in it. Everything is perfect, but at the end I miss some hook lines, some melody to remember. The atmosphere, sounds and mix are amazing. So you reached only my personally second place, dude!

3 points: Bjulin - Infected
This is my head banger this month! Amazing leads sounds.

2 points: AdagioCm - A Perfect Moment
Yeah, this is a wonderfull soundtrack for my ears. Melancholic, but not sad. Very dreamy and soft.

1 point: pedalsteeldrummer - Mind Meld
Wonderfull idea. You got the perfect Miles-feeling. But over the length it is a bit too much of the same.

I have to say that I was surprised what nice sounding sounds you all got out of Bazille. I had my problems with it, probably the root cause for my pause last month.

BTW: all the best for 2013!

OK, I've narrowed down my top five, and as always, there were some really tough decisions along the way.

5pts - PocVecem - Qspace
Lovely melodies, great bass, nice goove. Great song-writing skills and well put together.
4pts - Skyzone - Paranoid Eye
Really beautiful sounds in the intro. Nice gentle melodies, very tasteful throughout.
3pts - Thrax - Dark Water
Nicely constructed track. Liked the main theme.
2pts - evo2slo - Closer to the sun
Didn't immediately warm to this one, but it has grown on me after repeate listens. Some great sounds, and I love the searing "guitar" solo at the end.
1pt - pedalsteeldrummer - Mind Meld
Nice to hear something in a different genre. Very stylishly done and some great sound choices. The acoustic bass sound is great.

A few that came really close to getting some points:
Bjulin - Infected
very nice track, liked the transition into the main groove, and the lead parts at 2:00
Irion Da Ronin - BEC3 the last chance
Really like the atmospheric beginning, and there are some great sounds in here. Nice transition at 2:41.
AdagioCM - A perfect moment
Another very nice gentle intro - really like the shimmery pad. Great work

Finally, thanks to everyone who submitted an entry. Really impressed with what you all made. I did try to create an entry myself last month, but my 4 year old took a pair of scissors to my headphone cable, which put a halt to my progress. Maybe next month.

Oh yeah, i really "like" the beginning of a new year. Everytime it's the same at work: After a week or two the machines are switched on again ...
... dead computer power supplies, data loss due to empty backup batteries and dry capacitors in servo drives and so on. So 32(!) working hours in only the first three days. In my next life i won't do anything that has to do with service.

This means: In fact this evening i will listen to all entries in one go for the first time. And i will enjoy this with a lil glass of Speyside single malt. Yes!!
If i am still able to write then i will put some comments on Soundcloud.
Thank you for your nice comments on my track. This gives me drive for the next OSC. Voyager seems to work fine in Cubase6.5 (besides some strange energy fluctuations in the warp core, ... no just kidding).

See you soon.

Ouch that sucks but still begs the question why the machines were switched off to begin with?

Factory was completely closed 10 days due to christmas holidays. So all machines were switched off that time to save energy.
'nough work now. WEEKEND! :D

Btw, during the time i was inactive here i downloaded all entries every month and put together my own Best-Of-OSC compilation. That's now something 50 songs that are on heavy rotation in my car. I wish i had more time to go through the depth of soundcloud. There is so much great music to find here.

Ok, (now before i hijack this thread) i've gone completely through all entries this month and made my first favourites list.
2nd round comes tomorrow.
