I'm not sure how many people that have responded have much hands on experience with real analog synths or not, but I'm guessing not many have. One of the biggest gripes I have about VA synths is that filter resonance leaves much to be desired on almost every VA synth out there. Element is hands down the closest to sounding like a real analog synth when put into self oscillation. To boot, it's got some nice mod possibilities.
But yeah, go ahead and diss it due to how it looks.

But you seem to believe we all desire 'real' analog synths. We all have different needs when it comes to synths it seems.. what you need in a synth is far different than others..DJMaytag wrote:I'm not sure how many people that have responded have much hands on experience with real analog synths or not, but I'm guessing not many have. Isn't the point of emulating analog synth... getting it to actually sound like an analog synth? Waves has done a pretty good job of that, but many people here are dismissing it without even having tried it. Worse yet, many are dismissing it simply based on either how it looks or what the spec sheet says.

That's pretty normal here. After all, this is the place with the peopl who want to discuss, the people who actually make music either buy this if they're interested, or they don't if they aren't.DJMaytag wrote:Isn't the point of emulating analog synth... getting it to actually sound like an analog synth? Hmm.. True -- If the goal is to emulate an analog synth.. They claim in the marketing blurb 'analog style' which is pretty vague. Either way I suppose I missed that part.
But dismissing it? So let them.. What does their opinion matter to your opinion on the product? Their cash won't be paying for your purchases.

It's mind numbing that this thread has already gotten to 11+ pages
I'll look at it later, but does it really have anything that fm8absynthmassiveomnisphertriliankontakt don't already have?
I also see jordan is keeping busy

As does this thread.

Sure, why else would you be commenting on an analog modeled synth? That'd be like a vegetarian rating hamburgers.VitaminD wrote:But you seem to believe we all desire 'real' analog synths.

The UI is very straightforward, and looks like something you can jump right into.
Depending on how it sounds, this could be a good replacement for Sylenth1 as the go-to "My First Synth Plugin."
I think I'm gonna check it out.

Yes, it seems that way. So, as you seem to be the only person in the thread who has both tried it out AND is interested in analog synth sounds, what do you think of it compared to DIVA?DJMaytag wrote:Waves has done a pretty good job of that, but many people here are dismissing it without even having tried it. Why all the negativity here ?
Do you ask "why does the world need another car ?", too ?
Or another Compressor
Or another de-esser
or another Gate
Or another Reverb
Or another Delay
Or another FSU FX
Or another Sample Library
Or another ... whatever ... ad nauseam
If it's a 'waves' it's gotta be worth a fair chance (at least) imho.
Or does the world need another second rate Mp3 made by someone who will never get anywhere in the world of music?
(heads to music cafe - lol)

I have actually tried out some real analog synths in my time!
I must say - I was hugely disappointed!
They are unstable in terms of tuning, noisy (hiss / hum), some are quite flat sounding....etc...
Some plugins are thin and weedy but then again there is a lot of hardware that doesn't sound that good either!
It depends on your DACs, amp, speakers, etc...
