Yes, that's what I'm afraid of. Surface Pro won't have enough power for this.Sendy wrote:Can't see that happening in all honesty. What WILL happen is computers will get quickly to the point where Diva doesn't tax them. Analog modelling like any physical process modelling simply requires a lot of complexity and brute force to achieve realistic results.
Oh boy, another VA synth. This time from Waves!

Agreed. I'll take DIVA over most real analog synths. However, the best analog hardware have qualities that still haven't been replicated in plug-ins.anne5 wrote:Some plugins are thin and weedy but then again there is a lot of hardware that doesn't sound that good either!

But...........that analog sound...............anne5 wrote:I have actually tried out some real analog synths in my time!
I must say - I was hugely disappointed!
They are unstable in terms of tuning, noisy (hiss / hum), some are quite flat sounding....etc...

It depends on your DACs, amp, speakers, etc...

I just tried it for about an hour and to my ears it sounds very mediocre.
The filter doesn't sound analog at all as someone mentioned here....
It's the weakest section of the synth IMHO (I have enough analog synths to compare , so don't give me that).
To me it's not important that it doesn't sound analog (very few come close) , but it's just that there's really nothing new to be found here.
Nothing that sticks out for me to go and buy it ...not the sound and not the specs.

I didn't try it out, I bought it (and I was actually holding out until next semester started before buying any new software.) I'm really digging what Element can do.Uncle E wrote:Yes, it seems that way. I had been out of producing for the past 3 years, so I hadn't heard of DIVA prior to your mentioning it. I'm listening to the samples on the u-he website, and I'm intrigued on how it can compliment what I've got so far (ABL2, U-NO-LX, Element) and what I plan on buying in the future (LuSH-101, OB SEM V, Alchemy, MS-20.)

I already covered that.Uncle E wrote:Sure, why else would you be commenting on an analog modeled synth? That'd be like a vegetarian rating hamburgers.VitaminD wrote:But you seem to believe we all desire 'real' analog synths.

What hasn't been covered!?
I hate those examples btw. I mean, I've got nothing against that music, it's fine. But those 3 songs are not even original from EACH OTHER, let alone give me any reason to be turned on by this synth (headscratch)

One listen to the audio demos on the Waves site and you already know it aint nothing like Diva... The Element demos sound so been there done that, no particular punch or presence or unique character.

I just DLd it... I'm really liking this for some reason. Simple, but very effective. Love that sequencer... Disclaimer: I don't own any "real" analog synthesizers.
Comically: Logging in to my Waves account... I discovered my old Waves Musician's bundle (expired) cost $250. to upgrade, but I can buy the RennMax Bundle for $99. in the Waves Store!
What the??? Ha!

Sounds a little like a Juno to me, based on a bit of the audio demos. It says 1984 to me, but not even in a good way based on what I've heard so far.

CPU use with Elements seems to be low across every patch, which is nice
