:hihi: I know, it's just AWFUL!

I still have a serious question: Why would this be more inspiring than let's say omnisphere. Is it that it's not samples? (or is it??) I bought many of the synths I did because of how inspiring they are. Big, lush, huge sounds or standard strings.....it's got to have a "whoa" vibe.

Ok, I want a shootout here too! Quit yappin' and get to giving comparisons!!!!! :x

One reason is maybe that Element got a one week unrestricted demo and Omnisphere got no product demo at all.

On the other hand comparing this to Omnisphere seems to be a bit strange due to the fact they are totally different.

With the current offer at JRRshop Element costs around 58 Euros.
Omnisphere costs around 6 or more times of that.

fair. I guess I'm asking more from a POV of someone who has omni

To me, Omnisphere feels static compared to DIVA. I assume this is because of the samples.

demoed it. bought it after about 15 minutes. there is something really special and subtle going on under the hood on this thing.

i think it sounds more complex, thicker, expensive than my other favorite soft synths: DIVA, Lush-101, Poly KB II, Xils 3, DCAM/Synth Squad -- oscillator for oscillator.

i'm not quite sure how they are able to get this richness with only two oscillators. i mean, a little tweaking on some of the presets and i found myself listening to a single note held arp waaaay longer than i have with other synths. very fat.

the reverb is pretty crappy. very metallic and "short looped" sounding. so any patch that had reverb, i would turn it off and put my Lexicon PCM96 on it. problem solved. :D

the detail, punch and filtered 3d softness/complexity in the attacks of notes is really mind-blowing. the clarity, too. but also gritty. i don't know quite how to describe it. but it's the first time i've really felt this in a soft synth.

i can't wait to make music with this thing.

Neither can we..........get crackin'!!!!!!!! (crowd chants we want examples......we want examples! )

I've been wondering if the on-board effects are from some of Wave's existing algorithms, particularly the reverb (e.g., RenVerb, TrueVerb), or if they're new ones.

The EQ on this thing sounds really good. I wish I could use it as an insert effect.

indeed. I'm on it!

:)

I've already got a concept/inspiration from one of the patches. I'm gonna name the song after this particular patch, too. hehehe.

Gonna to try to use only Element in the track (except for drums).

It really does. I was surprised. Also, mids/highs are like the filter section, part II. It can almost sound like the RES knob. Very analog EQ. I'm pretty sure it's circuit modeled. Has almost an API sound to it.

Yes, I want to hear some audio that sounds better than all the top softsynths today... and you should immediately send your sounds to Waves cause the examples they have on their site are rather bland...

I just checked the KVR charts for number one softsynths over different time periods - 1 day, 1 week, per month, per year

Synth 1 baby!!!

If it sounds better than that, he made his point.

Actually, no he didn't. He said Element sounds better than Synth Squad, XILS3, Diva, POlyKB, and LUSH... which is absurd of course... he is either trolling, or paid by Waves... hehehe

okay, i'll try to rise to that, albeit slightly sarcastic, challenge. but a "test" like you're wanting should be done on fair, equal footing -- oscillator for oscillator, preset for preset on the raw plugins, themselves, not a finished production (like i'll be doing). five stacks of any synth can be made to sound almost like anything. not really, but you know what i mean.

i've got a good, real example for this, actually. one preset in Element, a bass, forget the name (will try to find it again) has this thick 40-100hz layer happening, with a highly notched, squetchy center layer in it on the top-end. it sounds almost exactly like the bass i designed in my latest track, where i used 2 stacked lush-101s and a DIVA to get a similar sound. i could have used two "layers" in the lush-101, but for workflow reasons they were separate instances that were frozen off. so that's like...6 or so oscillators for the bass, alone. i was getting that same sound, depth and richness from this one preset with just a little EQ.

i mean, Sylenth1 has 4 oscillators to wield. it's a very old synth, so it's unfair in that regard, but one Element instance, with two oscillators is sounding pretty fat. Two instances (to match Sylenths 4 oscillators) and you'd have a killer sound happening.

i really do think there is "something special" going on in this thing, that i haven't heard before. it's hard to explain what it is. you just have to demo it and listen, i think.

but i'll put something together. :)
