It's my new go-to when I need to go-to. lol Really, nothing to write home about. Oh, but it's "Waves" ... it's a blasphemy to talk against Waves, isn't it? They can't go wrong. My a... There are hundreds of VA synths better or equal to this one. It just makes me yawn. They are at least 5 years too late with this one, if not more.

And the perspective GUI is just appalling. You can't see as easily where all the parameters are set to. It's stupid.

The only thing positive about this monstrosity is: the order and the tidiness of the parameters. GUI designers can learn a lot from it. Everything is where it's supposed to be. Perfect. If the GUI wasn't fake perspective, it would be really easy to design new sounds.

Well, Waves are known for very usable GUIs, in the first place, after all. I give them that. Everybody should learn from the nice and logical Waves' GUIs. When they're not fake perspective, of course. :hihi: That's just too confusing and unnecessary.

My name is Guy Rotem. The Element synthesizer is the culmination of a 2 years collaboration between the talented folks at Waves and myself.

I hope some of you find Element a useful and inspiring instrument.

If you have questions, feel free. I'll be happy to try and answer.

Glad to see you stopping by the forums, Guy. As you may have gathered from my other posts, I've quickly become quite a fan of this fat little beastie -- really nice work!

So, one question regarding the spectral thickness/harmonics/complexity of the oscillators: is there some kind of "psychoacoustic modeling" stage going on (similar to Tone2's Gladiator)?

You might let the Waves engineering team know some are interested in learning more juicy technical details on what gives Element its characteristics. :)

Ditto, for Virtual Voltage.

Nerdery aside, tonight I'm working on a new song based exclusively on Element instances. I'm amazed at how little stacking is needed.

Cheers. And, thanks for this thing.

This is my new yo-yo synth.

@Guy Rotem
Welcome at KvR!
Are there some plans for small improvements? Some options for Unison, some more options for the effects... or eventually a "expert" mode with such options?

My computer does crash once every few days so it could be coincidence, but usually those are lockups and not BSODs. I've had 3 since I put Element on. If it persists I'll uninstall it and see if that helps.
Yes- BSOD here- haven't had one of these since XP days.

You're right - well done for having the balls, after 25 pages of nothing but praise, to be the one person to slag Waves off.

Thanks jalcide. Glad you're enjoying Element!

If there's anything I've learned in 19 years of synthesis and sound design, it's that the basis for a good sounding synth, is good sounding components (oscillators, filters, etc..).

You can always add bits and bobs and psychoacoustics and tears of a virgin unicorn, but if the quality of the basic components isn't there, no magical code can save a synth..

It dances in a cage wearing a bikini- it's the new Go Go synth!

C'mon, those tears would probably at least smooth out the stepping in most VA's filters....

I like the design all kidding aside. Very nice to have those controls where you don't have to navigate three pages in.

If I didn't just buy a Venom, I would have been tempted to purchase this. One page control is the workflow I like the most.

after jumping thru hoops to install and 'register' i got it done, but only standalone, no vst version...???

anyway. Sounds good, i like it, but i really dont like knob movement (might get used to it)

nice simple synth with some 'hidden' depth. with no FX it has a decent sound, but its not something i would buy right now. Still gonna keep giving it a test thru the week, its fun.

what sets it out from the others, bought Crx4 from linplug in the sales and that with diversion and some others seems all i need for a lifetime.

It's my new "couldn't be arsed" synth.
