If you find them great, then nobody can make you think otherwise, nor it is my intention to do that. Just be happy and make stuff. :D I do use many plugins that go as far as 2000, too. I also use many that appeared and disappeared within a few years, or even months. It's all about the quality of results, not how old a plugin is, yes. But when the plugs that use such old DSP code cost as much as a proper audio interface, in times when you can do everything with freeware or really cheap plugs... yes, that kinda bugs me. But I'm "just saying". It's your choice what you use. It always is, and should be. I don't like anybody imposing their choice on me, either, ey? Who does? :D

So I could point you to great free or cheap plugins that do the same as any of the "Renn" plugins, and even better, with better quality, but I won't. I don't want to impose. :D I want to keep you happy with what you use and paid through your nose to have it. :D

Cheers!

p.s. I sold mine when they were actually worth something.

I didn't write that...I quoted it...

So please edit your post...Thanks

I put together a little audio example for you guys. It's 100% Element instances (even drums).

https://soundcloud.com/jalcide/morse-on-mars-rough-idea

A rough idea preview loop of a song I'm gonna call "Morse On Mars" -- named after the Element preset of the same name. :)

I'll be updating it, as it progresses.

I like it! Is there some kinda side-chaining going on there??

Thanks! Yes, in several places: a bass bus, two different pads buses, a couple more places.

Just checking myself :D Yeah, that was cool, really shows off the synth A LOT more than those lam-ish demos they had :) :tu:

That sounds good! Heavy kickdrum
Much much better than the demos on the website. Seems the sound is fatter than the GUI would imply :D

The song could have gone on a little longer! Perfect tune to start the day with ... :)

Hi Dave, just out of pure curiosity, what software are you using as main vst host program these days?
No band limits, aliasing is the noise of freedom!

I had to give this synth a miss. I think the main problem for me is the knobs. The BSODs too, but they seem to be something on my end as only one other person got them.

But yeah, those knobs... they're the most unmusical virtual knobs I think I've ever laid mouse pointer on. The whole point of VA (and analog in general) is to enjoy the turn of the knob, the smooth sound transitions. While the synth engine is capable of this, the GUI isn't in my opinion (unless you do all tweaking with drawing automation).

Great synth, just not for me. The subtle smudgy filter was great though :)

:dog: Exactly what i asked and got no answer so far...

I only heard i should stop "forcing my help" on him. :x

I had posted this about possible problems with Orion:
http://forum.synapse-audio.com/viewtopi ... dd32645142

I have checked that as i guessed he used Orion in the past and also based on posts he made in the Synapse forum.

UPDATE:
Just found this about officially supported hosts (does not mean it does not run in others too):
http://www.wavesupport.net/Objects/Imag ... V9_pc.html

based on that officially supported hosts for Element seem to be: ProTools, Nuendo (VST3), Cubase (VST3), Sonar, Samplitude, Sequoia, Ableton Live and Studio One (VST3). Based on my personal experience it also works in Reaper 4.
Does not seem to work in Tobybear MiniHost.

More info also here:
http://www.wavesupport.net/

I noticed that you also could get an Offline version of the Waves v9 installer here:
http://www.waves.com/content.aspx?id=96

For the download you have to log in and use "Download V9 to install on an offline computer. Click here »".

Download is quite big but it seems to include files for all Waves plugins.

If you got this and the license on an USB stick (USB flash drive) you don't seem to need an internet connection on a second computer.

UPDATE:
Just out of curiosity i installed the demo of Orion 8.5 and similar to the problem mentioned at the the Synapse forum (see beginning of this post) Orion recognizes the WaveShell 9.2 VST (which is required for all Waves plugins) but not the Element plugin.

For Element to be recognized as a VSTi Plugin in any Host other than Cubase it needs to be shelled with the Shell2VST tool. Than it will be recognized with ANY other host.

Hey all, I liked this thread better back a couple of pages when you were arguing about which plugin folder and kriminal refused to state where he installed it.

But I got confused then. So . . is this thread still about that Elements synth? I think it's better than a lot of other same old, same old analogue synths because it's rather butt-ugly with my least favourite colours and the placement of the too many squared-off buttons just says 'Waves' to me so strongly. Ultra super double dirt cheap by their pricing standards, too. Or do you have to buy yet another $1000 bundle to get it? I just spent my whole Waves budget for this month. Got the $900 (on sale!) bundle of the seven different Reverb Tails Reverb Units collection, even comes with a time-stretch plugin that only works on Waves and only on Waves reverb tails. Exclusive or what, huh?

Anyhow, I really just wanted to post about how some Waves plugins look modern and just fine, although layouts cluttered and nowhere near as classy as U.A.D. for example, and then the other half of their plugins look truly butt-ugly.

I think they should hire limeflavour or somebody to straighten out the sort of schizo assorted look. That's it for now. And don't ask what folders I keep my plugins in, because that nobody's business but mine.

Do try to keep things interesting here, though, okay? Like, be sure to argue over how music can only sound good if the plugins cost way more than any rational, sane person would pay for them. And never mention freeware here if you think a newbie might be reading the thread.

So, I keep the 'show signatures' thing off because that's where all the egotistical and really rude rubbish gets posted. Never knew before because I couldn't see them, until one day, passing by and not signed in (which blocks them). And no, I won't tell you if I use SynthEdit. Nosy Parker. Find out the hard way, sucka!!!
