Someone knows what kind of effect should be applied to a guitar (I think it´s a midi guitar, but that is my though!!) to get that kind of "rare & weird" sound in the final solo guitar in the Sheena Easton & Prince theme "She´s got the look"
Thanks to all for sufferin´ my english and again, thanks in advance!!

No, that's a real guitar alright... Prince is amazing on it.
As to the sound, a real axe through something like GreaseTube (Check the listings here for it) and a doubler/delay I think is all you really need?
Oh yeah, and to be amazing like Prince!

That record, Sign o the Times, has some insane sound design work. And it's so raw - sounds something like a demo. I think the "Ballad of Dorothy Parker" is one of Prince's most interesting songs. Anyone take a stab at what he's using on that tune?

I don't think GreaseTube will get you that sound, probably better off with something like ElectroFuzz (or whatever that old school steinberg fuzz fx was called) and them some eq and chorus.
I'm more amazed by the drum track on that song - simplest drum machine ever and then Sheena's weirdo percussion on top; sporadic hihats, timbales and cowbells all over the place. Still, it sounds great.
One of my earliest music production memories is being 9 years old and trying to emulate the rhythm track from "hot thing" with a yamaha psr-32 keyboard and a 4-track.
Somebody once told me that Sequential Drumtraks is the only drum machine used on that entire album. Is that true!?!?

I agree. Prince is amazing. We have emulated his tone on that song, but you do know it is by the band Roxette though Prince may have written it (not sure). If you own Amplitube then you can be sure you can get that tone.By the way I will be offering some Prince presets as part of the 500 preset megapack on www.tonheaded.com
