Good quality birch ply dove jointed built guitar speaker cabinets are ample quality wise...All the tonewoods used for the actual instrument itself have
an at the very best a mariginal impact on how it sounds, Choice of loud speaker or speakers is the most crucial along with dimensions and choice
of open or closed back design (or both), Bass cabinets ported or not is a big factor IME & IMHO.

I susspose if used as a veneer they might make the cabinet's appearence more appealing to some people and the odd few that do, Do not have to care about weight and the cost of materials.

Obviously its another very subjective and personal taste heavy area. It is not difficult to build your own FWIW, A close friend and myself have done a few over the years that see use

To quote Trey Anastasio "Being really familiar with your gear is more important than having really good gear". Check out the scrap lumber plywood cabinets he built himself with house insulation and chicken wire that he has used for years. And the "$40" Ross Compressor ($40 in 1980 ,$400+ now). And the crappy junky old Mesa Boogie Mark III. I'll just try and ignore that $7,000 custom built guitar he has in his hands though (and the 5 other backups he has) :hihi:

Nice one as always, I am close to finishing a piece myself using X50 and will upload it here as its pretty heavy also. OTOT speaking of dudes with thier own cabinets, Steve Austin of Today Is The Day and Jeff Irwin of Will Haven, Ghostride & The Abominable Iron Sloth build their own monster 4x12" and others, There just isn't anything much in the way of footage of them I can find  Irwin's sounds are BEAST (a combo of SGs & Vipers into JCM2000, Diezel and Mesa/Boogie)

Jeff on TOIS's Self-Titled (in drop g#) monster sludge grooves:

I'm sure you've heard Will Haven before so won't linkage to any of thier material and same with Today Is The Day. Right metalifuxx mate will finish that thing I'm doing with TSE X50 and put her up :tu: Nice one \m/

That is all the X50 alone, no tubescreamer/OD boost or pre tone sculpting, with the red channel preamp gain not above 6, and the power amp disabled.
Funny thing is, with this side discussion of cabinets and such with amp modeling, I did not use a traditional speaker/cab emulation or IR. I did use a Slipknot IR from the Tone Vampire 1 set, which is more of an approximated EQ/resonance curve of the the the actual Slipknot studio track's overall guitar sound. It gave me an instant mix ready heavy sound. And I intended it to have a growly buzzy type sound, which is kind of a riff idea I borrowed from a friends song, and I call it "Mechanical Malfunction", expect when my friend plays it, he does some Tom Morello type playing tricks to really make it sound wacked out. He has an old 4 track cassette recording of it in which he used a 7 string and one of those Zoom 505 processors for the ampsim, and my drummer friend used the Yamaha DD55 drum pad to add some crazy drums to it. He recently started jamming it live again with our drummer, and maybe I can get him to re-record it with real drums.

I am looking forward to your track. You make them heavy and doomy but still very melodic.

Edit: found the original track my friend did. Basic on so many levels, but it's analog (recorded on a Fostex 4 track cassette recorder :hihi:). I think the quirkiness and playing more than make up for any issue on quality or what was used. And my drummer friend Jimmy absolutely ripped it up on a Yamaha DD50 drum practice pad kit.
